Where did you buy your DSLR from?
I've finally decided which camera I want and now I'm looking around for the best price. Just wanted to make sure I'm not overlooking anywhere.

ETA: I spent the "whole" week looking for deals.
Costco.com has deals too.

Nikon D40x - 10 megapixel
with a Nikon 18-55mm lens,
a Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 telefoto lens,
an external flash (generic brand)
2 tripods, a soft case and a hard case
4GB memory stick, a memory card reader
3 filters, a generic no name wide angle lens (that works well)
and a cleaning kit for 764.00
There are a bunch of vendors on ebay that are based in brooklyn that are VERY competitive so they offer huge packages for cheap.
i LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE my camera.
The camera and the 2 Nikon Lenses alone retail for over 1000.00

For online, I like buydig, as posted above....
My DH actually got my Nikon D50 at Costco back when DD was born (May 06). It was a whole package deal and came with 2 lenses.

Thanks everyone. I'll check out all the suggestions. I went to Cameta and they had a package with the 55-135 lens. They said that should suit my needs until the kids are playing sports and then I can get a longer distance lens. But I'm being a little bratty and I want more than one lens.

I'm getting the Nikon D40x. My mom found a few savings bonds of mine that I didn't cash for college and we'd both forgotten about in her safe deposit box. When I cashed them it was almost $1,000!  DH said since it was my money I could spend it however I want.
I feel like a rich b!tch right now, he's letting me use the money I earn from my WAH job for a cleaning lady since he knows how much I HATE cleaning the house!

ITA - definitely shop around but when I took photography in college that was where everyone got their cameras and where the teacher would recommend for the good buys and they are knowledgeable so you can ask a lot of questions.

DH bought me the D40x too. The FedEx truck left a note on our door than we missed him.  I think DH took the FedEx ticket with him this morning.

I just bought the 40X. I did a lot of research and ended up getting it from Circuit City. I paid more (about $30) than if I ordered it from BuyDig or B&H but I was impatient and wanted it right away. I also got a free photo printer in the deal. Be careful of some places online. Most of the ones offering great prices had horrible feedback on the BBB.

Oops - forgot to say that I got my camera from Ritz camera.
I'm amazed with how legit it turned out to be. The cases aren't very lavish but I didn't NEED those cases to begin with... I wound up buying a combination camera/laptop backpack.
the flash and wide angle lens are no name, but they do their job...
I was mainly interested in gettiing the camera, and telefoto lens.
can't beat that price, and it came FAST with free shipping. They even sent me an additional 1GB memory card...
