We skipped the toddler and went right for a twin. We just bought it this week from JCP who is having AWESOME sales.

We were considering skipping the toddler bed but DS is only going to be 18 mos old when we move him (need the crib for #2 and he actually climbed out for the first time last week - good timing!).

I actually got the below bed for my twin boys from Amazon.com Its the step 2 convertible stock nascar bed.
It is great because you can use the crib mattress or a twin bed. So although the bed is a lil pricey it will sure last a long time. I initially started the boys @ 22 months in it with the crib mattress but didnt like how the plastic was on the sides after the first night we went out and got them twin beds for it and they love it and are both doing great in there "vroom vroom bed" lol

wait i forgot i got mine from www.babyage.com
no matter what you order shipping is only $10.
Just be sure to check them out before you buy any bed most of the other websites wanted about $100 just to ship the beds.
