Where did you install your carseat(s)
Before becoming preggo with #2 I had her in the middle, but I'm thinking the infant carrier will go in the middle once DC#2 arrives. Currently I have DD behind the passenger so I can see her better. Is there any benefit to having your DC behind the driver or passenger? (I know the middle is the safest, but only one seat fits there Once DC#2 is in a regular seat they will both be on the sides)

On the passenger side, if you are parked on the side of the road, you will be taking DC out of the car away from traffic. If they are behind the driver, they are getting out directly into oncoming traffic.

Re: Where did you install your carseat(s)
When we had our carseats checked they said that to put the older child behind the driver. Statistically you are more likely to be hit on that side and you want the baby to be in the safest spot. I can't fit one in the middle and one behind a seat, they both have to be behind seats.
I'm not often parked on the street to get my kids in and out, we're in the driveway or a parking lot usually so it doesn't really make a difference. I'm sure if I was still living in Queens I'd think differently about it.

I've never been a fan of the "statistical" side of the car getting hit. You really can't plan for which side of the car will be hit in an accident. We have the oldest on the passenger side right now to minimize exposure on the street. DD is still small enough to pick up and carry, so she is out of her seat and safely on the side of the road in a fraction of the time it takes for DS to get out of his seat and out of the car after we unbuckle him. With this particular setup, we are hopefully minimizing the time we are in traffic.
Granted, we are rarely parked on the side of the road, but on the very few occasions when it happens, I like getting out of the street as quickly as possible.

Re: Where did you install your carseat(s)
Currently, my 2 year old, Katherine, is behind the passenger, while Abby (8 months) is behind the driver. My rationale was that Abby's not going to dart out into traffic while loading her into and out of the car street-side...lol.
It's turned into a PITA big-time though when I need to park on the street (which is not often, but happens at least weekly when I pick Kate up from school) and here's why...Abby is now out of the infant carrier so she needs to go in first since I can't put her down on the ground anymore. I can't have Kate standing next to me in the street while buckling Abby in! So, I'm switching so that when I put Abby in she'll be sidewalk-side and in that case, Kate CAN stand next to me.
Sorry so long, but the whole thing has become a real hassle lately!!

Good point. We may wind up switching DC at some point if we have the same issue. Luckily, if we open the passenger door first, DS can climb in on his own, and we go to the other side and strap DD in, then go back to DS and strap him in.

I have my oldest on the passenger side and my youngest behind the driver. I just recently switched, and only because my son's preschool has drop off in the mornings, and I needed him to be at the curb side when I pull up.

Re: Where did you install your carseat(s)
We never did the middle since two seats next to each other didn't seem like it would work to us.
We never had one at a time. I have heard reasons for why each spot is the best to have the seat in though.
