Where do you hang X-Mas stockings...
if you don't have a fireplace and you want to keep them away from pets and children?
We live in a ranch and don't have stairs either.

The LTD catalog has a holder that is a stand and you hang them on it. Not safe from pets and Children though

We have a couple of shelves in our living room above our couch and we hang them from there by the stocking holder things.

We dont' have stairs or a fireplace either - i think i'm going to hang them from a set of french doors we have from the LR into the kitchen

I think I am going to hang them on the hooks on our entry way shelf (with bench). Either that or on a high table against a wall in the LR.

We usually hang ours from the bay window ledge on either side of the tree...the animals don't seem to bother them, but we don't have children sooo....

I have a fireplace so my CHRISTmas stockings go there.
But when I lived at home and in our apt. we put them on the wall.

In our apt, we used to hang them on stocking holders off of our bookcase at a level that the pets couldn't reach it.
