Where do you install the infant car seat?
We are going to install the infant car seat today and go have it checked this week. It doesn't say anywhere in the directions or on the car safety website where in the back the seat should be installed. I always assumed right behind the driver but my SIL is saying in the middle in case you get hit on your side. Can anyone give me more info. on this please.... Looking forward to joining you in a few weeks

Re: Where do you install the infant car seat?
we drive in the city and urban areas a lot, so for us, removing the baby from the car, when parked on the side walk was important too. We put it behind passenger side.
I think the general recommendation is behind driver side. I never heard about the middle, though.

I put mine in the middle (I drive an Altima) There is room for passengers to sit on either side as well. I never found it to be difficult to put DS in or to take him out.

Re: Where do you install the infant car seat?
It depends on your car. It should say where the safest place to install it, in your car manual. In my Camry the safest place is in the middle. In my Enclave the safest place is behind the passenger seat (there is no middle seat in the second row).

Was going to say the same thing- in our Honda CRV and Honda Pilot, they both said behind the front passenger seat.

As a general rule, middle is safest. That said, there are a few cars that don't abide by that rule, but always try middle first.

Sydnie is behind the passenger but I am thinking of moving her to the middle now that she's older and it's easier to get her in and out.

what she said. usually your car manual will suggest the best place for your particular car, but yes, USUALLY middle.

Re: Where do you install the infant car seat?
generally the middle is the safest spot, but it all depends on your car. You should check the owner's manual of your car, there should be a section that tells you the safest spot to place the car seat
