where do you shop for your lighting (both table and floor lamps)?

we are desperately in need of lighting for our living room.

the ceiling is not wired for hanging lights (our house was built before all that good stuff ) so we need to focus on table and floor lamps.

I wish I had pics of the room with the new furniture and updates, but I don't.

I would say we aren't looking for modern. more classic and "vintage". like OLD vintage...before mid century modern.

and I have to be able to go to a store. I need it by Saturday.

Antique stores-- you can get a lamp and rewire it with a kit from a hardware store

Sorry - I found our lamps online - lampsplus. I LOVE them and nothing even came lose to them in stores...

I've seen the best selection of lamps at JCP. Homegoods had very little, Pier One also didn't have many... Maybe Peter Andrews? I don't know if there is one by you. How about a thrift shop - mix and match some pieces maybe? I bet there's a few country stores up there that may have them...

Mostly at Lamps Plus online and JCPenney. I've found a few bases and shades at Target that I really liked.

Have you looked into any local lighting stores in your area? I know of a place on the Island but you need this soon so I don't think you're going to be interested in schlepping out to Bay Shore. But if you are, check out Bay Shore Lighting.

I also did a google search of lighting stores for the Orange County area and it brought up a good sized list of stores...

Don't know where you are, but Illumination Lighting in Rockville Centre has a really nice selection of lamps. I bought a floor lamp with a handpainted flower shaped bowl (when I was into that "shabby chic" look, LOL!). EVERYONE comments on that lamp.

and thanks for the search results Jennie. unfortunately I want to have it IN HAND before I drive up to the house tomorrow night...I don't have time between now and Sat to visit these stores...but it will come in handy in the coming months.

right now..I just need something that will look decent and shed light. once the sun goes down, it's candles or nothing in there.

I've actually found decent things at Home Depot. My bedroom overhead was web only, but the bedside lamps were from the store.

My other lamps are all from my aunt's house, b/c she used to work for a lighting company & would get deals!
