Re: Where to buy flowers?
try craigslist, seriously I got a great deal on some organinc, home grown in someones back garden - black eyed susab for $5
Failing that, get some annuals. If you have shade, impatients are great - colorful and low maintenance, but if they are not in some shade, they will wilt very fast. I aslo got a cheap mandeville (a creeper) and a hydrangea at Lowes, that so far, are doing fine.
You could plant seed, I got Martha Stewart wildflower mox at Kmart the year we moved in. Burpee makes them too.

I used to get them cheap at MACE's, but the one by me closed, not sure if they all did.

Re: Where to buy flowers?
We actually got a lot of impatients and other annual flats from Lowes with that $10 off coupon that was posted a few weeks ago.

Re: Where to buy flowers?
lowes flowers were HORRIBLE this year! we went friday night and they were all dead and dry! i refused to buy any (this was the one by the source mall)
we got ours at a local place the next day. a little more expensive, but much more alive and healthy.

Re: Where to buy flowers?
I always get my flowers from Sal's Fruit Tree in Copaigue right off of Sunrise Highway.
They have great flats of impatients and other flowers.

I went to Lowes and Walmart!
At lowes/HD, I bought a 32-pack of marigolds for $11! Gotta love that!

Re: Where to buy flowers?
Anybody try to the Peconic River Herb Farm -- way out east?
We love it there and buy most of our flowers through them. When we buy flowers from Lowe's or Home Depot they always die quickly while the ones from the herb farm are doing beautifully.

Re: Where to buy flowers?
Costco had GIGANTIC decorative pots filled w/ a few different plants and potting soil for $28. Totally worth it.
