Where to find cheap furniture? Anyone selling a sectional? ;)

I'm moving in a month or so, and will need almost all new furniture. I'm also a newly single mom who can't afford jack, so I'm trying to do it as cheaply as possible. That is, I'm scouring Craigslist about 3 times a day. ;)

I've tried lots of clearance/outlet furniture stores, too: The Place, Bob's Discount Furniture, Brand Name Furniture, etc.

I'm mostly looking for a microfiber sectional couch with recliners. (Know anyone selling one in great condition?) Secondarily, I'm also looking for a kitchen table and chairs and a dining room set. I do have the bedroom sets, at least.

Quite honestly, I think this is a great time to search yard sales. At least for the table. As for the sectional, I always see them on Craigslist. Maybe if you can be flexible on the style and fabric, you might be able to get something real cheap at Ikea.

Many stores will have attractive financing options if you are interested in that. I got all my furniture for 5 years no interest. I don't recoomend Rooms Unlimited though. But Raymour and Flannigan has similar sales and selection. In fact they had the same dining room. I wanted to do this because it's furniture we'll for awhile. If we picked stuff out that was cheap and didn't like.. it's wasted money. So search around you'll some great buys. Searching on craigs list can take awhile but I'm sure you will find something there. Community boards at the grocery store or at work have listings for furn. sometimes. Also the clasifieds in the newspaper.

they don't have couches..but for desks, entertainment centers, etc. try Furn-A-Kit.

i *heart* craigslist. with dogs and kid and the need to save for college/retirement/life i get a lot of used stuff...later on i'll have nice, new stuff, but you can find some awesome deals on Craigslist.

Thanks for all the good ideas! I hadn't even thought of places like Walmart or Target for furniture. And yep, I've been yard sale-ing like crazy, too, but it's so random trying to drive around town in the hopes that someone will be selling a microfiber sectional in good condition. The kitchen and dining room sets, though, are more likely, because I don't have many specifics in mind for them.

Have you tried Big Lots? They have some really great looking furniture for really good prices.

I bought my sectional at Sam's Club of all places. It's not microfiber, nor does it have recliners, but it was a pretty good price. They have nice furniture there, you should check it out. Costco also has nice furniture.

As for a table, I bought a really inexpensive round wood pedestal table from Kmart. It was like $150 and I've had it for six months so far and it's held up great!

I bought our absolute dream sofa and 2 ottomans from craigslist.
