Where to stay in San Diego?
DH and I are going to LA for a wedding in October. We thought it might be nice to drive down to San Diego and stay over for a night. Can anyone reccomend somewhere nice to stay (not too $$$). I'm not sure what location is best so any suggestions (for location and things to do) are welcome!! TIA!

We stayed at the Marriott Hotel & Marina. It was SO nice, in walking distance from the Gaslight district and right on the water with a nice pool. There is also that old hotel on Coronado Island that looked really nice, but that was a little too $$ for us. Have fun, it's beautiful there!!

I second the Marriott! If you're only there for the weekend, it'll come in handy being close to the Gaslamp.
Hotel del Coronado is the one on Coronado Island - it's great if you want to stay right by the beach, and it has history to it, but you'd have to drive over the bridge to get downtown. And it is expensive.
