Where's a good place to get eye glasses?
The last time I went to get eye glasses, I went to Sears. I wasn't too impressed with their selection and customer service. Where does everyone else go for glasses/contacts? TIA!

do you have insurance? many good OD's take insurance and their cost is usually the same or less than you would pay at a Sears or Costco or Lens Crafters out of pocket. I have a great eye doctor in Rockville Centre if you're interested.

I just went to Lens Crafters and had a great experience. I walked in there after work on a friday, they gave me my eye exam and had contacts within the week.
Large selection of frames as well

I go to Lenscrafters. They are easy to deal with, large selection and they adjust my glasses for free.

When I lived on LI I went to Eye Supply in Wantagh. They are a small shop and ave amazingly good customer service. My whole familiy wears contacts/glasses and we have been going there since I was a child.

I went to several different Lenscrafters and was never really happy with them.
I go to an independent place in Westchester now, so I'm not help, but my FIL actually raves about Costco. He read somewhere they they were ranked high for accuracy with making the lenses to.

I got mine at Lens Crafters, and I got a discount because of my insurance. I don't know if it was a promotion or something that went through my insurance (I have Oxford Freedom).
I also found that Costco had a great selection and they are inexpensive. I got my RX sunglasses there.

The Center for Eye Care in West Islip. They have an place to get glasses, and you don't need to see one of their optometrists to go there. DH and I both got our glasses from them and they were great.

Eye-Deal Optical in West Hempstead. He's been there forever. Good prices (better than Lens Crafters) and a great selection.
