Which cleaner would you recommend to clean

mold on a carpet? When DH and I were moving out we discovered mold underneath our armoire which had to be thrown out it was so bad.

There is a lot on the carpet.. we lived there for 2 years. No wonder why DH and I were having respiratory issues!!!

Would resolve cleaner work?

sorry, I'm fairly certain it's a total loss. Must pitch and get new flooring. The only way to eliminate mold is with clorox, and that is only on non-porous surfaces..... Carpeting or dry wall must be ripped out and replaced, Katrina-style.

More importantly, where's the moisture coming from? You have unresolved roofing / siding / foundation / land grading issues, or possibly plumbing problems......

Definitely rip it out ASAP. You could be riskingyour health.

Honestly, I would have a professional come in and look at it. You do not want to mess with Mold, it grows like wild fire and you don't want the problem to get worse. If the Mold spores are in the air and you have been breathing them in, you would want it cleaned and out for good.

Mold needs to be Steamed cleaned. Hire a pro for that.

It's in our old apartment. We moved out of there and I need to go back and clean. We have a house now.

Re: Which cleaner would you recommend to clean

Is this a rental, or a co-op?

If it's a rental, it's the landlords problem. As long as you didn't shower in the living room, there's nothing you could have done to create the mold problem. It's a maintenance issue, with the subflooring getting wet.

For a co-op, there must be something the co-op board is required to do to resolve the moisture problem that caused the mold.... it's not normal to get mold growth on carpet, no matter how old it is. Depending upon your contract with the board, it may even be their responsibility to restore the apt to livable condition, and replace the carpet, ater correcting the moisture issue....

If it has affected your respiratory health, it wouldn't pass a home inspection. Resolve won't do a thing, and getting the carpet wet with either a spot cleaner or steam cleaning likely will only exasperate the issue.

good luck!!!
