Which field is best for babies and families at Jones Beach? We're going to attempt going to the beach this weekend.
I haven't been to Jones Beach since I was in high school.
Which field is best for babies? What time should we get there to beat the massive crowds?

Personally, I would NOT take a 4 month old to the beach. You cannot put sunscreen on him until 6 months and the sun is BRUTAL at the beach.
I know you want to do all the fun "summer things" with DS, but hang in there.... before you know it he will be older and read for all sorts of fun in the sun!

If you want to go try to go early and get into field 6. There is a boardwalk to walk down by the water. Ask your ped about sunscreen...mine says put it on (ds is almost 5 months) Do you really want to go to jones? Where do you live? I like to go down to point lookout bc it is smaller.

I brought my DS to the beach when he was 11 weeks old, my ped advised that we could use sunscreen and we had a tent for him. I don't think the OP is planning on going to the beach for 8 straight hours..
To the OP, I don't know Jones Beach, but I think you should be fine anywhere really.

I'm not a fan of Jones Beach but I haven't been there for over 10 years. A friend of ours wanted to go there this weekend. I just recently moved back to LI.
Maybe we should go to another beach.

If you live in the town of oyster bay you can go to tobay beach which is much better than jones. I loves jones beach but with kids tobay is so much better. there is a bay side and an ocean side. The bay side has a brand new spray water park that the kids love. You have to get there early since the parking lot is small.

Sorry to crash.... Try Robert Moses Field 3... tons of families and kid.
I would either get there early in the morning or later in the afternoon. The field fills up and they will close the parking lot.

I think I will recommend Robert Moses to my friend. Thanks!
