Which hair color looks better on me? (pics)
Blondish highlights (on a very tired new mommy)
or
Darker, closer to my natural color (on a much thinner, well rested newlywed)

i like the highlights, but if you're looking for a change, how about darker than your natural color? like a chestnutty brown?

I agree!
Love the highlights, however being a mommy myself, I know what a pain it is to maintain them. If you can commit to getting your hair done every 6 weeks, I say go for the highlights.

Thanks everyone! Looks like the highlights are winning out over the darker color.
Plus the few "go bald" suggestions! 
I've highlighted my hair for the majority of the past 10+ years, except for the short time I went dark again.
I can commit to the highlights, but I'm having a love/hate relationship with them. I love how they look, I don't love how much they cost!!

Personally I like the darker. I think I just tend to like a little darker in the winter on most people because one can tend to look a bit washed out because their skin tends to be a bit paler in winter. Of course, I also hate maintaining highlights so maybe that’s why I like it
