Which is more "important" money or "longevity"**UPDATE**It WAS a job offer!!

SO as I had posted, I started a new job today. It's not a bad job, but I don't really love it, let alone like it all that much.

I know, only one day- but still.

I get home to find a message from the other job (which I was really hoping to get) and though she doesn't say she's offering me the job, I feel like it could be an offer (she sounded positive). I am going to call her tomorrow on my break.

So, I know the other job (which I have to call tomorrow) is more money, though I do not know exactly the pay. On the application I put a salary range and no one said it was "too high", but it would be $8,000-$13,000 more per year than the current job I am at.

BUT, the job I am at now has a very low turnover rate, and most of the people have been there for 10+ years!

SO, which is more important
(1) More money and possibly happier
(2) Less money, not as happy, but longevity

**ETA: Both jobs are in the same area- maybe 2 miles from each other-so no additional/less travel time or expense.

*******************************************
UPDATE:
So I did not go back to the new job. And I called the woman who left me the message. It was a job offer!! It is 8-5 (the other job was 9-5) and it will be 12,126.40 more (before taxes) than the other job. I accepted and said I could start tomorrow. She said she needed a few days to get a desk set up with a computer for me. So I will start on Monday! I am happier already.

no brainer to me

more money and happier

I know I am happy with more $$$$$

not the thought of staying at a job I don't like for less money- b/c other people stay there for a long time- that doesn't make sense

life is tooooo short to be unhappy if you don't have to be

Re: Which is more "important" money or "longevity"

Regardless of the money or longevity... I think happiness is most important. If you're unhappy at a job, no amount of money in the world could fix it, nor knowing you could potentially be at the job forever.

So I think the more money and happiness option is what I would choose, but based more so on the happiness factor rather than the money factor

I would throw both aside for wanting to be at a certain company/in a certain position. You have to wake up every morning and find that motivation to get you moving...money helps but it's not going to keep you moving because at some point you will say..."this is not worth the paycheck" same with longevity - you have to love the place for that to be a motivating factor. You have to like what you do, like the people and like the company culture in order to find that motivation...in my opinion.

Re: Which is more "important" money or "longevity"

Thank you all. I think I knew what I wanted to do, and DH said he would agree with whatever I decided to do. He would prefer that I have another job lined up before quiting this one, but . . . I quit the job.

I found myself not wanting to go this morning so I called and said I was not coming back, that the job was just not for me.

I called back the lady who called me, awaiting her call.
