Which IUD? Mirena or Paraguard?

Any feedback on either?
I have decided to go this route but I am trying to decide if I want the one with hormone or without.

Re: Which IUD? Mirena or Paraguard?

Sorry I dont have an answer -- At my 6 week PP visit my Dr. suggested an IUD, but then a couple of months later another Dr. in the practice said that if we planned on getting PG again within a year and a half I shouldnt get one. Did your Dr. say anything about TTC again?
Thanks.

No they didn't mention that. I was going to call and talk to my midwife before i set up my appointment. I am still so undecided but I know I will never remember the pill and I am freaked about getting pregnant before she is at least 1.

i have 2 friends who use the mirena, however one of them is preggo now, the IUD fell out w/o her knowing it, apparently you must check it often to make sure it did not dislodge, if the string is not there, you;re in trouble.

I was going to get it and the Dr talked me out of it for now. There's a *very small* that your future fertility could be affected, particularly if you get an infection. But the chances are slim. Also, there is a small risk of a tubal pregnancy which would be very dangerous for the mother and must be removed.

He told me I wasn't an "ideal" candidate because I am under 30 and only have 1 child.

I was going to go with the Paraguard because it's hormone free.
