Re: Which one would you pick? Cruise?
Princess Cruise
Reasoning: I like ports a lot better then Celebrity. I have cruised Princess before & had the best experience....
Don't think you could go wrong with either though

Re: Which one would you pick? Cruise?
I would choose the Princess Cruise. We did a similar cruise on Royal Caribbean a few years ago and it was wonderful! Those are great ports.

Both lines have great reputations, but the Princess's ports of call seem a bit better

Based only on where you'd be going, I'd say Princess. They both sound great, though!

Re: Which one would you pick? Cruise?
I have been on both cruise lines, and I actually just went on a cruise very similar to the Princess itinerary.
Celebrity cruise line is an older crowd, but not that bad. There was plenty of people in their 20s and 30s on both cruises I went on. The food and service is fantastic, and the boats are beautiful and very classy. DH and I just booked a Celebrity cruise for July.
Princess is a younger crowd then Celebrity, but don't worry about tons of screaming kids. I have been on Princess twice, and they where great cruises. The boats are nicely decorated and the food and service are excellent. Princess has the one of the nicest pool areas IMO.
You really can't go wrong with either cruise line.
As far as itinerary, I would pick Princess. It goes to better places IMO. If you have the time, stay post or pre cruise in Puerto Rico. This is what we did, and we had a great time.
Also, I know the Millenium is not that old of a boat, but how old is the Crown Princess. You want to take this in to consideration. You want to stay with a boat that was at least built after 2000. The older boats are smaller and do not have as much to do. There are so many newer and bigger ships out now, there is no need to go on a boat built in 1990, unless you get a great deal.
Have fun with what ever cruise you choose!!

Re: Which one would you pick? Cruise?
We did the Crown in June but with a different itinerary. We LOVED it and would highly recommend it!!
Keep in mind though, the ship is HUGE!!
We have done both ends of the spectrum with Princess. We did the Tahitian which is a really small ship and the Crown which is the largest in their fleet. Completely different experiences but we absolutely loved them both.

Celebrity Cruises - Millennium
Fort Lauderdale, Florida San Juan, Puerto Rico Tortola, BVI Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic Labadee, Haiti Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Princess Cruises - Crown Princess San Juan, Puerto Rico Bridgetown, Barbados Castries, St. Lucia Antigua, Leeward Islands Tortola, BVI St. Thomas, USVI San Juan, Puerto Rico
I was on the Crown Princess last year right after thanksgiving and I have done 12 Celebrity cruises (I have been on the Constellation which is the sister ship to the Millenium. My parents have gone on the Millenium several times.
Both are great cruises. When are you thinking of going? If you are thiinking of going in the winter I would pick consider Princess since it leaves from San Juan and you will have a warmer weather port - winter from Ft Lauderdale can be in the 50's or 60's or cooler and the water down to the islands can be rougher than leaving from San Juan.
Age wise the crowds can be the same in off times - I have seen plenty of familes on both lines during school breaks. There are people in their 20's, 30s etc - obviously though non holiday and school break times you will find an older crowd on both cruises.
I have been on about 12 cruises around the islands. I think the itinerary on the Crown is better than the celebrity itinerary. - Barbados, Antigua, and St Thomas are really nice islands - St Lucia is great too. I wasn't too crazy about Haiti or the Dominican Rep.
As far as the pros and cons go:
Celebrity: This is an older ship now - but it is still a great ship. The crowd ages vary depending on the time of year - but you will find this with Princess as well.
Service is top notch. Food is very good (but with any cruise ship - they are more like catering halls than like a sit down restaurant - unless you go to the specialty restaurant). Dinner seating is fixed - with two dinner times - early or late with an assigned table (you can get a table for two if you want one - but it isn't easy to get).
One large pool area outside (there is a small one in the solarium area) so the whole ship will be around one area on sea days.
Cold towels when you board, sorbet by the pool.
You pay in advance when you reserve your shore excursion.
Princess: The crown is a new ship that started sailing May or June of 2006. When we went on the Crown it was only on its 3 sailing out of San Juan. There are always advantages to new ships - they are in much better condition.
Large ship with tons to do - entertainment is pretty good compared to other lines. Four pools - one with a band, another with a 300 sq foot movie screen, and two adult only pools. The spa/gym is really nice.
The only thing we didn't like about our two princess cruises was that the food was eh - not bad but not really good either. You will definitely find things to eat - it was just we had been spoiled after celebrity. More shore excursion options. You can reserve in advance - but you don't have to pay until you are on board - so you can switch your excursions multiple times before you depart.
If you have specific questions feel free to FM me.
