Personally I think you should get the one day shopping pass for each and check out each of them. They do carry some different items. When we first got married, we were BJs shoppers all the way, they had so many items that we would buy regularly. Lately I was commenting to DH that we tend to go to BJs for one or two items yet we are doing more and more of our shopping at Costco. So I say check each out and see which you like better. I will say that Costco has an amazing return policy. They took back BILs video camera a year later because it broke.

I like BJs because they take coupons and sell gas cheap, and all their products aren't huge sizes. But Costco takes anything and everything back - don't need a reason, don't need a receipt. They also have an website with a lot more products and you can return those to a local store, and they even return your shipping and handling fees.

costco has its own coupons and special instant rebates ...
Last week was like "cleaning supply week" Almost all cleaning supply had coupons (some instant, some you had to cut and bring in)
I never experienced BJ's all though it closer, i have been shpping at costco for 9 years now and love to go there.
I agree with an above poster and check out both stores for yourself. Heck, even if you got a costco membership and don't like it, they will gladly refund you your money. The first time i shop there, i earned back my membership fee in savings...
