pics are from pottery barn but im getting the exact one with a sofabed somewhere else and much cheaper

but in an offwhite color like the first one
main difference between both is the back pillows

I have a loose-pillow sofa-back and while I like the inviting look...my next sofa will have a stationary back. It is virtually impossible to get the pillows to keep their shape as the years go on. So I vote for #1.

I like the look of #2 better but I think that #1 would probably be more comfortable.

i like them both, but i'd vote for #1 b/c I think it's more versatile - can go with many different styles vs. the second, which is more modern.

they were comparing the exact pb couches to the ones they had
i sat on both
JC couches were much more comfortable and affordable IMO

Stationary sofa backs are DEFINATELY more comortable than loose ones. Trust me...I just got rid of one for the other, and between that & the new mattress, DH & I feel reborn! We no longer walk around like cranky hunchbacked old people.

Completely agree. Althought I love the look of the loose pillows, I got rid of my loose pillow couch because it always looked messy and I was always fixing pillows!

I have the same couch. Mine only has 2 long back pillows, I am constantly reshaping them. Are you getting the down? mine are down, maybe that is why they constantly look sloppy.
Good choice though, it's the most comfortable couch in the world! We just throw the slipcovers in the laundry inside out.

Count me in the loose-pilllow-back haters!!!!
In addition to what everyone's said about it looking messy, it's also a pain to wash and dry all the covers all of the time!
