Which STRAW cup do you use?

I have the Nuby one (first pic) which is easier for her and the munchkin sports cup (second pic) which i think is a little too big.

The problem with both is that she throws them alot and the top keeps breaking apart. The part that closes the straw. You can fix it, but it's a pain.

Can you recommend yours?

Re: Which STRAW cup do you use?

Those straws are a pain but I have gotten good at them with lots of practice. I always use those with my kids. Ive never used the Nuby ones though. Playtex has straw cups that are smaller than the Munchkin ones and probably a better size for her.

Re: Which STRAW cup do you use?

omg that reminds me... when my son was 'off the bop' he insisted on drinking ONLY from this one playtex straw cup... it was yellow with purple swirls on it...

I bought the SAME cup... just different colors and he would REFUSE THEM.

I had to search all BRUs for the yellow ones...

funny

We have both and DD uses them both. I think you just need to keep trying, it takes time for them to learn to drink from a straw.

Oh...I didnt understand the problem in your original post. The throwing thing is not going to be helped by any cup you use. If she's flinging them that hard, any top will come off or break (future athlete on your hands??). If it were me, I wouldnt give it to her to throw around. Have it on hand for meals and keep it out of reach or offer it for sips and take it back in between. After the throwing things phase passes, any cup will do.

Re: Which STRAW cup do you use?

Ah, I see. Temper temper huh! DD does that sometimes with her cups too and I don't know how to get them to stop.

DH finally put my locks on the kitchen cabinets and DD is so frustrated now. She would take everything out of the cabinets and put it somewhere in the house for me to find! It was stressing me out!

I haven't seen to many other cups with straws in them, I will let you know if I come across something else.

She's pretty good walking around with it - its just that she sometimes "cleans" off her highchair tray and the cup is nothing but a casualtyChat Icon

I was wondering/hoping if there was a stronger straw cup out there!!!

We used to use the sippy - she did the same thing, but those never broke.

Re: Which STRAW cup do you use?

I decided recently that I HATE nuby straw cups! They spill EVERYWHERE. Sometimes I take her out of her highchair and she is soaked, like a puddle in her chair. And they were new.Chat Icon Chat Icon

I just bought some baby einstein ones from Pathmark that she loves and they are insulated as well. I will try to find a pic.

Oh yes...my little darling did the same thing! She used to manage to wing it and it would hit just right that the cup would open and the water would spill everywhere.

What we did-I read about this on babycenter or in a parenting magazine. Either put some fav stickers in the shape of an X and teach her that's where her cup goes. Our high chair has a place for the cup so i didn't do the stickers. When she wings it, we tell her a stern no no no, your cup goes here. And we'd ask her after a couple times where her cup goes, she'd point to the spot and we'd make a big deal about it. Then when she winged it, we'd tell her no where's your cup go, and give it back to her so she can put it there. When she did we made a big deal again. I started when DD was about your dd's age. Might be worth the shotChat Icon

Every since she puts her cup where it goes and when she's done drinking she puts it back, it's so cute!

Good luck!Chat Icon

Re: Which STRAW cup do you use?

DS uses the Playtex ones: External Image

DD uses the bottom ones you mentioned: External Image

DD's is insulated, but I don't like the straw mechanism. DS's is much better designed. Also, when they come out of the dishwasher, DD's holds water in the flip-top part, so I have to partially close the flip-top and drain the water that stays in there. DS's doesn't have that problem.

I would definitely go with the Playtex ones, but we really want to keep two different styles so it's easy for everyone to tell the difference.
