Which would you prefer having medicine delivered to your home or going to a pharmacy
Just curious, Becauae i got something in the mail from my job saying that Home delivery is the primary way to fill all of your maintenance medications.. Is this a new thing now?? If it was up to me i rather just continue getting it from my pharmacy... They said they're going to charge me full price till i make my decision.

I think it is suppossed to be a cheaper way and you get a longer supply. I don't mind delivery, just would be a hassel if there was a mistake and you needed the meds like that day or the next. But if it what they want, I'd do it to have meds covered!

I get all maintenance drugs this way. They are 90 day supplies for much less of a co-pay.

DH started to do this. Now we do it for DS' asthma preventive medicine. It's a MAJOR cost saving.

This is how my insurance (GHI via NYDOE) does it. It's a love/hate situation. It's bad when your doctor puts off getting a script to you and then your stuck at the last minute trying to get if filled via mail. You have to make sure you stay on top of things.

If I was on a maintenance drug I would choose the mail order option. Much, much cheaper.

Re: Which would you prefer having medicine delivered to your home or going to a pharmacy
you basically get 3 months of meds for the cost of 2... and only have to remember to refill 3 times a year... (or they can automatically do it for you)... now the dr can send it to the company electronically (eprescribing)... so it takes no time at all anymore to get it in the system it rocks for meds you take all the time (can't get controlled substances that way though.. like sleeping pills, maybe xanax etc)

I always do delivery at home if it is a long term prescription. It does cost less in the long run. For regular antibotics I go to CVS

Re: Which would you prefer having medicine delivered to your home or going to a pharmacy
I'm on synthroid i see they put it on the list of one of the medicines i can get, But my other medicine is a controlled substance and i have to get that one through the pharmacy. I guess since it is cheaper i'm going to call them and tell them i'm going to do it.

Re: Which would you prefer having medicine delivered to your home or going to a pharmacy
the only thing I don't like about it, is because I am also on synthroid and I have to go every 8 weeks to get my levels checked and they change my dosage accordingly, well if I do the 90 supply, and they change my dose, I have a TON of left over pills!! So I have been filling them at CVS, but I haven't noticed a change in the price yet, but I keep getting letters that if I don't use the mailorder I will see an increase in price.

I have to use a mail service for long term prescriptions. I always forget to fill them in time though, I much prefer just to go to CVS.

Re: Which would you prefer having medicine delivered to your home or going to a pharmacy
I would choose mail order over retail (pharmacy) every time. It is more convenient (not having to go to the pharmacy monthly) and cheaper!
My maintenance med costs $20 at the pharmacy monthly or $40 for a three month supply.
I have never had a problem getting a script from my doctor - and she usually writes the script for a year supply.
To me, it's a no-brainer! Another way to save money in this economy.

Can you cut your pills in half or adjust the dose by doing something like that or are the pills capsules?

Re: Which would you prefer having medicine delivered to your home or going to a pharmacy
it is sooooooooooooooooo much cheaper to fill your prescriptions online! i do this for things like i take often. if it's something like an antibotic you need right away, i'll go to CVS. but the on-line registration and delivering them at home is a cheap option.
