Whining at 19 months

DS has gotten in the habit of whining for everything. I understand that he's still learning new words. But, does anyone have any suggestions on how to make this "phase" pass by FAST? Chat Icon Chat Icon

No advice on how to make it pass any faster, but we just ignore it. We'll tell her to use her words, but beyond that, we ignore, ignore, ignore. And when she actually asks for something or uses her words, we make a big deal out of it and say in a really cheery voice, "Thank you SO much for using your words, Ava! What a BIG girl!" And we clap. It seems to be working, I thinkChat Icon She has her days, but for the most part, this at least fends off the whining. Doesn't do away with it completely.

On a side note, how have you been? Haven't seen you around in a while!Chat Icon

So I'm not alone!!

I went and did something so stupid. I gave him back his Nuby cup. I know it doesn't sound to bad. But all he does with it is suck and bite on the nipple. But, for peace. I let him use it! Chat Icon Chat Icon That's another thing I need to work on.

HI! I'm pretty good, thank you. I do get on to read and catch up on all you gals and your wonderful children. I can't post at work, and it's tough at night, but I'm trying. Chat Icon All you ladies have helped me realize that I'm doing just fine as a Mom. And hearing how great the children are progressing, helps me to see that Colin is as well!
