White and Espresso? Kinda long.

After two years of using our kitchen table as our office and eating space, DH and I are finally reorganizing, redecorating and making out lives a little more breathable.

The "office" is going to be in a small undefinable space between the kitchen and living room--too big to be a hallway, too small to be a room. Perfect for two desks and chairs.

So, we want to get the desks in white because it is right off the kitchen and would "go" better. Plus, we may pass down one of the desks to DD when she is older and I picture a girl's room with a white bed and desk (weird, don't ask why...)
The desks are 159 each with chairs and assembly included, pure wood--from one of these Gothic Cabinet typer places in our nabe..

So FINALLY--my question--I have a million of the Crate and Barrel Archetype Shelves and ledges of all kinds, new in box. Would these espresso shelves look funny or ugly above the white desks? Be honest (not that you wouldn't be.)

I can always sell them, save them or use them elsewhere...

What do you think?

Archetype Shelves, Ledges Etc.

With the right decor, I think white and espresso will look great together. It's not that far off from black and white, just more modern! So yes, I would absolutely use those shelves.

I have the opposite situation but I think it works, my craft room has an expresso desk and LOTS of white shelves

This pics were taken right after we finished the room so there's more stuff in there now but I used expresso colored baskets to tie it all together

I hope that helps.

thank you! This craft "room" is actually a weird loft at the top of our stairs, its oddly shaped and only about 6'X 7', the door in the picture goes to our exercise room so we walk thru often, it still works really well. DH built the shelves to maximize every inch of wall space. It was an area like you described, not big enough to be a room, but too big to be a hall.
good luck with your project, it sounds great! post pics when you're done!
