Re: Whitestone ladies - where is the beach club?
Its off of 3rd avenue near Whitestone Park in Whitestone Woods.
I forget the actual street, I just know it from habit. You need to go down one of those fake "dead end" streets
My friend belongs to it - I've gone a couple of times with her as a guest.
I don't go in the water but thats just me. Plenty of other people are always in there.
Great for the kids - lots of families, there are lifeguards, the water is shallow enough for kids to stand in, small picnic area with tables, I THINK there is a concession stand to buy some food - not sure if I'm making that up thought...lol I can't remember what else.
Its nice if you want to enjoy a day at the beach without sitting in the traffic to head out east.
All the times that I went were on weekdays - so it was more STAH moms & their children and older people. WAY less crowded than say Jones beach.

I belong to it!
Go straight down 149street til you can't go any further. it's in the back.
It opens officially this weekend.
Not sure of pricing for a new membership (since i've been a member since i was a kid), but it's $200/yr for a family.
It's small, tables for picnics & BBQ. Water is eh.
For me, the closeness is really the best thing. We spent a alot of time there last year---it was just easy!
FM me if you want more details!

Re: Whitestone ladies - where is the beach club?
Donna...THANK YOU for bringing this up!
I've been driving around for like three days looking for it! And yes, I went straight down 149th Street and couldn't find anything! I was worried the local residents would think I was a weirdo with the amount of times I was circling around.
Jenn, I'm about to FM you right now!

Re: Whitestone ladies - where is the beach club?
Like the pp said - straight down 149 street til you can't go any further. it's in the back. I used to go alll the time when I was little my grandparents lived in wstone and as I got older I joined! (I think I am still on their "inactive" member list)
It's great..I basically grew up there..all the ladies knew me and my grandmother. She used to play cards there and go to the dances and BBQ's

That was YOU? Only kidding.
But don't you have to live in a certain radius to be a memeber of Boosters Beach? I think it is still $200 a yr. I belong to that hideous mess next door to that beach. Its not voluntary, but rather part of my Home Owners Association benefits The only ones that enjoy the beach are the hundreds of geese.

Re: Whitestone ladies - where is the beach club?
I think you have to be a Whitestone resident to join.
I'm pretty sure they don't have a website but if you call the Whitestone Taxpayer association you can get the info.
My mom is a member - I think it's called Booster Beach.

Re: Whitestone ladies - where is the beach club?
There's no website....they're old school!
And this year they opened up the membership to the entire 11357 zip.
It's called Whitestone Boosters Civic Association.
ETA; just googled and found the address and phone number: Whitestone Boosters Civic Association 15011 Powells Cove Boulevard Whitestone, ny 11357-1154 Phone: (718) 767-7232

thanks so much for the info!
I will take a drive over there tomorrow and check it out.
I just think with a 16 month old it's easier than packing up and driving to the bay at Jones Beach
