Who Are You Gonna Call ... When Labor Hits?
Who are you going to call to take you to the hospital when you get contractions?
My DH works in the city so if I happen to get contractions when he's at work I'm calling him to haul *** so he can drive me to the hospital.

Well, if I go into labor when I'm work, I'll call DH to meet me at the hospital since the hospital I'm delivering at is literally a 2 minute drive from my office.
If he's at work and I'm at home, then we'll play that by ear depending on how close my contractions are. The hospital is 20 minutes from home, and 20 minutes from his office, but home is 45 minutes or so from his office.

When my water leaked my father had been in NY about 12hours 
He was sleeping in the baby's room and I woke up my hubby first then him
so I had my hubby drive and my Dad sit in the back seat.. poor man was dead on his feet!
Oh, it should mention it was close to 2am

Me too. Does your DH drive or take the train? Mine takes the train, so depending on the time of day it could be he has to wait an hour just to get on a train. I'm already forming plans in my mind that he can go to another train station and my mom or dad can pick him up. My greatest fear right now is that they will tell me I need a c-sec right away and he won't be able to make it in time.

mine too, depending on the time, if the schedule on the LIRR is off peak, he's going to take take a black car his company will provide him to rush home

my early labor was not really noticeable because i'd been having ongoing contractions since 25 weeks.
so when i woke up in the middle of the night i went directly into active labor -contractions 5 minutes apart for about 20 minutes, then right to 2 minutes apart
SO the only person who i had a chance to notify was my husband, who was lying next to me
right before i left for the hospital i made two quick calls to my sister and mother in NY - just for sympathy
i had about 3 hours between getting my epidural and giving birth... so i called the rest of my family then 
i predict that my labor will be even quicker this time (second ones usually are), so i'm sure i'll have not much time for phone calls... just DH.

My DH works down in 911 dispatch and has been working so much OT that I definately see myself going into labor while he is at work. I would prolly. I fear that i wont know when im in labor untill it is really bad. My first instinct will be to call him, then i will call my mom. MOM lives all the way in franklin square and car isnt the most reliable to drive to farmingdale and MIL well lets just say she doesnt like to drive parkways and is one of those very cautious drivers. SO i will prolly call dh who will try to make it home and he said if it is full of snow outside he will send an ambulance (which i dont want). So we shall see what happens.

definately Rob if he isnt here....next my mom and dad but they should be up here for the birth....may ask my mo to be in the room as well.....after thati am sure i will be so out of it and anxious to meet my little boys that i will be useless LOL...i'll let Rob handle his family..our friends....shortly after that the waiting room should be packed with friends and family...lucky hospital

DH
he works less than five minutes away and the hospital is five minutes away, so that's nice. his headquarters, though, is an hour away, two hours with traffic so that's kinda scary. luckily he doesn't go there often, but if he does happen to be there, i guess i'll call the ambulance!

DH works from home, so keeping inmind Im home when it happens I just have to walk in the next room. Phone calls will go to my mom (in NY, needs to fly down) and my brother who will just go to the hosp.

But to answer he original question, depending on when labor hits, DH will be taking me.
I will also probably call moms & siblings on then way!!!

DH works in the city and it takes him an hour to get home and pick up the car to drive me to the hospital. Hopefully, that will give me time to finish packing and get ready for delivery. :D
I'm surprised the answer is so unanimous, everyone is calling DH first!

DH and I both work from home, and we are stopping his business traveling a few weeks before the due date so hopefully I will just have to walk into his office and off we will go.
We'll call my mom on the way and I'm sure she will meet us there (she lives about 90 mins from us). DH's parents live 5 minutes from us so I'm sure they will pop in.

Well, no one lives close to me-- so, hopefully DH will be home. If not, he'll have to hop his arse on a train and get here to drive me to the hospital.
I would drive myself if I was able to though and he could meet me there.
