Who is running NYC?
How are all you lovely marathon running ladies doing??? Are you totally excited? I am, this is my first!
I suffered an injury a month ago but have been resting it alot and think it is better. I worry that I am not ready due to my lack of running but I think I will make it! YAY!

Re: Who is running NYC?
not running NYC, but my best marathon advice is not to go out too fast...it's hard to reel in the excitement, but I think it's key to not hit the wall.
also hydrate hydrate hydrate! but nothing 2 hours before the race, so you are empty.
good luck!!

Re: Who is running NYC?
Good Luck!!!!
I ran through the park this moring and saw the finish line...got goose bumps...so exciting!!
They say it's supposed to rain in the morning...so bring big black garbage bags to stay warm and dry!! You can even run in one until you warm up!
I don't carb load, but you just do what you have done before every long run. Don't do anything different.
The first 10ish miles let people pass you, don't try to catch up to them, you will pass them at mile 18...I promise. The 59th st bridge is steeper than you think you if you haven't run it before. Take it easy because there is not much recovery at the end. Don't run too hard on 1st avenue. The crowds are amazing...but you still have 10 miles to go and you need your strength to get through the Bronx. 5th ave is rough, its a slight incline the entire way for about 3.5 miles. You can do it, just don't let your mind tell you, you can't. Let your arms pull you up the hill. When you enter the park you are at 90th, You are going to go down the cat hill, that can hurt so late in the race if you have knee or hip issues, just beware and know it's coming. When you hit central park south you are in the home stretch. Take it all in here, you are finishing your marathon, look around you, look at the people, the buildings, NYC and feel proud. Enter the park at Columbus Circle with pride, you are amazing and no matter what your time is you just accomplished something that most people don't even attempt in their lifetime. Run through the finish line with your hands held high, make sure you smile and that nobody is in front of you so you get a good picture!
Lastly, remember that you have already done all the hard work, you have put in the blood, sweat and tears....this last 26.2 miles are just your victory laps...GOOD LUCK and HAVE FUN!!
