Re: who is watching the presidential news conference?
I am.
He just mentioned a tax credit for "school". Is that for tuition? And would that be good for this tax year that we are doing taxes on (2008?).
I think the current cap for tuition is $2000.

Re: who is watching the presidential news conference?
I was just thinking something similar. I really liked what he said about the stimulus package having "full transparency" so that the public can know how all the money is spent.
Also, I am glad that we finally have an articulate president.

Nope. I started to but his opening words made me so depressed ... I know how much I am screwed thanks.
I've had new deal in my head for a long time... I just hope he really does create JOBS, the way that so many jobs were created before.

Re: who is watching the presidential news conference?
I did not watch because after the past year, I am convinced that 99.99% of everything that comes out of any politician's mouth is nothing but lies. All these "stimulus" plans and bailouts may sound good on paper, but the bottom line is that you can't alter the basic way that economics works and this country is beyond screwed.

Are the eye rolls for the transparency or the articulation? At least explain the snark

Re: who is watching the presidential news conference?
I watched. I was disappointed, I don't feel like he said much really because he wanted Geithner to do so at his press conference today. He should have forced Geithner to keep his presser yesterday am instead of moving it to today, so that last night's Presidential press conference was more informative. He just kept repeating the same generic statements over and over.
And what was with the reporter who asked the A-Rod question? Seriously, he thought that was so important to ask at this juncture?

I agree with everything you said.
While I like him and his ideas, I think last night was moot without the financial specifics.

Re: who is watching the presidential news conference?
i just feel like he's still on the campaign trail. I mean, you won. He talks like he's still trying to win. Just my opinion. No slams, please! :) And yes, the A-Rod question was ridiculous, but I thought he handled it well.

I think I recall every president in the past getting asked questions like these in the past. I think it helps to keep up an everyday kind of person image as well as saying don't do drugs, it's stupid. I don't have a problem with it.

if you look at her recent posts, you will see that she is not an Obama fan (understatement of the year)

I am inclined to agree with you. I support OBama but never forgot the bottom line--THEY ARE ALL POLITICIANS.
The stmulus plan is like jumping off a building with a sheet and hoping to float. The housing stimulus is poop and dont get me started on the cuts for No Child left behind. And whoopie the 25.00 per week increase for unemployment pay. They should all be ashamed to sign their names to this.

Re: who is watching the presidential news conference?
I started to watch, but when he made several references to some people thinking the government shouldn't get involved at all, I turned it off.....From everything I have heard and read from people who are opposed, they are NOT opposed to the government getting involved, they are opposed because of the GINORMOUS amount of spending versus tax cuts.....I don't believe that alot of people think nothing should be done.
