Who knew having a baby would bring out the same unwanted advice as wedding planning

Good grief! Yesterday my SIL's were giving me the "Just you wait" laundry list of pregnancy.

It got to the point where I replied "did you enjoy anything at all, or were you just miserable? Were there any positives in your pregnancy you would like to share with me instead?"

And if I hear "get your sleep now b/c you'll never have it again" schpeel one more time... Chat Icon

Ok, vent over!

or the ones who tell you "not to do it" are the worst. . I had those for the wedding AND for this. . and a wedding I could potentially back out of but um. .. I'm 38 weeks what do you think I'm going to do with this kid?

ignore it all. everyone has a different experience. every time that i hear "sleep now yadda yadda" i laugh Chat Icon DS slept 20/24 hours for the first THREE months and then was sleeping 9 hour stretches at night and napping most of the day until 4 months when he was sleeping 11 hours through the night.

dont let anyone elses advice worry you are give you anxiety Chat Icon the experience is 100% different for everyone. Chat Icon (grrr, can you tell that it STILL annoys me Chat Icon ) i had anxiety for NO reason. don't let that be you. take everything one minute at a time, one hour at a time, one day at a time.

Don't listen to them!

My first 10 weeks of pregnancy were harder than the whole rest of it, and I was almost a week late! (Just because of the complete exhaustion)

Then, DD was born - and slept so much I had to wake her up to eat! I was sleeping all night AND able to get naps in during the day.

She STILL sleeps 10-12 hours a night AND naps during the day at 6 months.

Everyone has a different experience, don't let it get to you - I heard it the whole time as well!

That sleep crap is not true at all my ds loves to sleep. We take naps together all the time. I had the worst pregnancy ever being sick all day everyday from 6 to 35 weeks was a lot harder than my baby boy. My mother in law was constantly like "a baby is a lot of work blah blah" and it is. It is so worth it tho. We can't even wait to have another one but I want to at least wait till ds is 8 months before even trying.

This one really p*sses me off like no other.

Really? Is there some magical way to BANK sleep that all these moms know that I don't?

Fecking idiots when they say this -- I want to kick them in their faces when someone tells me this...because whether I slept well 6 mos ago or not, will not affect when I'm sleep deprived from getting up every 2 hrs to feed a hungry baby.

I cannot even begin to tell you how done I am with hearing everyone's unsolicited "advice". I'm actually beginning to just roll my eyes at people. Which I guess is better than telling them to shut the eff up!! Chat Icon

Ughh I know exactly how you feel. We just told family and close friends this weekend and its been non stop especially from my sister. She had major issues with me using an over the counter prenatal vs a persciption one. Seriously are you a Doctor or something!!!??? Ughhh Then you get the people who tell you the nightmare experiences they had or their daughters had with miscarraige and what not, worst convos ever!!

UGH! I flat out said in the beginning, I don't want or need your advice, so don't give it unless I ask. People try to tell me ALLL the time you will never...I cut them off and say the ONLY thing I'll NEVER do again is have my 1st child!! So pipe down! Chat Icon
