Who locks up at night?

Ok. What do you ladies think? And guys, feel free to add your 2 cents.

When I was growing up, my dad took out the garbage, locked the doors, turned off the lights and went to bed. I always felt safe and secure and he always did it. I always felt like my dad was the "man of the house".

Now, taking out the garbage used to be my DH's job, but when it began to overflow in the can, I took it upon myself to take it out every day.

Lately, he has been coming to bed and leaving the lights on downstairs and the doors unlocked!!! No matter how many times I tell him and remind him, he forgets a lot. I always have to be paranoid and go check. Sometimes its locked but there have been plenty that it is not. I tell him "aren't you the man of the house?" Then act like it!!

He's pretty good with other stuff (like picking up dirty clothes and stuff like that) but this one thing is really bothering me!!!

Who locks up at night in your house?

I am with you...my dad always did it and I liked it that way...

Now it's usually DH being he is the last one in...and Oh-Yeah a clean freak! LOL

None of us....I'm so worn out I just make sure Marissa is in her bed and then I'm out for the night. I hope DH does.

I ALWAYS lock the door. Everything else he does!

DH takes out the garbage, and locks up before bed every single night.
He usually even gets out of bed to double check.

The door gets locked when we come in from outside always ... but I've had to have the talk with DH numerous times about shutting the living room celing fan off or the air conditioner, closing the windows, etc, etc ...

it's a pain.

Things with my Dad were the same as yours. DH does turn off the lights and lock the door, but I take out the garbage, which I really don't mind to do.

My DH does the garbage and locks up 99% of the time.

My DH does. He locks up, takes out the garbage, turns off all the lights and whatever else needs to be turned off. I never really thought about it until I read this post, but it does make me feel safe....I'll make sure and thank him tonight for making that one of his jobs

My mom and dad always did the locking up at our house growing up. We also seem to share the responsiblity here with the locking up, throwing the garbage out, taking it to the curb and walking the dog.
But I will say that DH is in charge of turning off the lights. He does the double check around the house before we go to bed (he makes sure all of the doors are locked and stuff). This is also because I am in bed before him

I do it all before I go to bed, then DH comes home from work and does it all over again before he comes to bed. Except for the garbage I get stuck with that

Marcie, I am always in bed before him too. Sometimes I get out of bed to double check that he locks up!! I don't mind the garbage anymore.

I always ask him...did you lock the doors...he says yes. Sometimes I double check because he really didn't.

Usually DH. If he forgets, he's lucky I go down for a glass of water or something!.,.

We usually go in and out through our garage doors which are always locked - the other doors are barely used and never unlocked. We do occasionally leave lights or fans on, but don't think too much of it.

With us, its whomever comes home last. We are both very good about it - that is just something neither of us would forget to do.

I always locked it at my parents' house... we'd wait till everyone was home to lock up.

Now that I live alone, I double lock the door as soon as I get home.

Whoever gets home last locks the storm and front door. DH usually takes the trash and the dog out back around 10pm, so he locks the back door. Whoever is the last one to go upstairs will turn off the lights and set the alarm.

why don't you misplace some things...and let him think its because the door wasn't locked....it might scare him into remembering

my mother.she puts on that alarm, locks up everything, cloess the window, then shes off to bed
