Who makes those thin, but WARM winter coats for kids? Is it LL Bean? Lands End?
I am already sick of taking DS' winter coat off to put him in his carseat and then putting it back on to get out of the car. Ugh. I need a thin, but WARM winter coat for him that won't cost me an arm and a leg.

DD wears this fleece from LL Bean most of the winter. If we are just doing in an out of the car that is all she wears. If we will be out of the car for a while I bring a shell to put over it.
I order it a full size up and each has lasted me 2 years.

Is this coat warm enough to play outside with on cold days like today? How about 30 degree weather in the snow?

We have and LOVE the lands end squall jacket. It has so many great features and is built well. The sleeves extend so I am hoping we get two years out of it.

I just bought DD1 the Land's End squal jacket (not the 3 in 1, the regular one)l. Love it! DD1 is warm, and there is growing room in the sleeves for her (they have a stitching that can be cut to lengthen them).

My dd has a north face fleece, and a jacket by them also. They are both very thin, and do not compress w/ the straps. Both work well w/ the car seat.

The squall jacket from lands end is the one I remember hearing about. I just ordered it for DS. they have 40% off and free shipping right now so it was only $40 instead of $82 (the cost plus shipping).

Is the squall jacket thin enough to be safe in the car seat?
Also- does it come in toddler size? I only see girls and that would be too big for DD

I ordered it in a toddler 2T and 3T for DS (not sure which size will be best, probably 2T).
I didn't see smaller than 2T though.
From the reviews I've read, it does seem that it will be thin enough for the carseat.

My DS has the squall jacket. It's thin and fleece lined, perfect for the car seat.

I love that it has this feature so that I won't have to buy him another coat next year!!

Just ordered a squall jacket for DD too! Now that it's been getting colder I was trying to find something to use in the car since her winter coat is puffy/bulky. Thanks for the info.

It is, but DD1 is more comfortable with hers off. She throws it over herself like a blanket
