Who sees Dr. Pillitteri?
Do you like him? How long is your average wait when you go? How often do you see him? Trying to figure some things out... probably too early, but that's ok, I'm off this week. TIA!

So what I'm really getting here is YES!!!? I <3 you. I'm a nervous Nellie.... and rumor has it that Dr. Kofinas works best w/ him. I'm set on delivering at Stony Brook, if I get that far, and rumor also has it that Dr. Kofinas doesn't have rights there... I'd be happy to never step foot into Good Sam again after my D&C, but I also don't know what this pregnancy holds (or for how long...). That being said, do I want to add extra risks or do I set myself up for the safest route if/when the time comes... even if they weren't my first choice? Ugh, decisions decisions...

Re: Who sees Dr. Pillitteri?
I did use Dr.P as the one who botched my d&c .. and also as an OB till my 17th week- and even in that small time I have enough complaints to type a novel. I can list them here, but Shannon I believe you already know all the things I have to say..
What it comes down to is, if you have a good experience with him you will love him .. if not, you'll hate him (ahem ) .. so you're going to get a bunch of people here with varying opinions- just like when you post about different REs on the infertility board.
Honestly, I'm sure by getting monitored closely by Dr.Kofinas at the same time, you will be in good hands. Much of what I felt was wrong with him and that office was based around complete disorganization. His bedside manner was another story.. and the fact that he permanently torched my lining- unforgivable. However, obviously he gets recommended by Dr.Kofinas for a reason. I know he worked under him during his residency and Dr.Kofinas likes that he will listen to anything he tells him to do.
For me personally, if I was to carry another baby full term, I would take my business elsewhere- and I was planning on it had that been the case for me with the last pregnancy. There are other doctors out there that Dr.Kofinas is willing to work with. My advice to you is to just do your research.

Re: Who sees Dr. Pillitteri?
I am 1000% w/ Penny Cat here! His office is a wreck and he is an arrogant bully. I still regret having him as my OB. That being said, I know you are hesitant about Good Sam, but Dr. El Kady is the MFM there and i LOVED her. I tried to pay her to deliver me! Maybe see who else she works with. Oh and I think she is at St. Charles on Fridays. I recently switched to a Stony Brook based practice. They have their own MFM they use. Let me know if you are interested in the practice. They are in Rocky Point, E. Seatauket and Sayville.

Re: Who sees Dr. Pillitteri?
Wow, I can not believe so many people are anti-Dr. P. I LOVED him. I actually cried after delivering DD because I wasn't going to see him anymore and told DH we had to have more babies because of him. But I guess like PennyCat said, everyone's opinion is different.
Personally, I found his bedside manner to be great. We always had fun with him during our visits. I thought he was very thorough. From my first visit he sent me to Dr. El Kady because he knew I was going to have GD and he did tests on me and found issues that my RE should have. I had bleeding at 17 weeks and he forced L&D to take me even though they're not supposed to until 20 weeks. When I had DD he checked on me while he was on vacation. one night he cam eat 11:40pm and he was there again at 6:30am to discharge me so I didn't have to wait until the afternoon. I could go on and on. I found him to be very thorough and an overall great person and doctor.
I know you said you don't like Good Sam, but Dr. El Kady in MFM is AMAZING. And I loved the way she and Dr. P worked together.
Dr. P's office though is a whole other story. Yes they are a disorganized mess. Some of the staff are just plain witches. And the wait can be more than ridiculous. But I personally felt Dr. P was worth it all. And I refuse to have anyone else deliver my future children. So help me god if he tries to retire before I'm ready for another...
ETA: Just realized I didn't answer your actual questions. I saw him every single time while I was PG. He's only in 2 days per week so the wait can be very long. I would go and expect to be there for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Sometimes I'd be pleasantly surprised and be in and out in a half hour, but that was rare. I'd say an hour and a half was my average wait.

Re: Who sees Dr. Pillitteri?
Did you NOT believe me?????? Do you want more?
Even though I was sent immediately to the hospital by Madonna, Dr. P kept me sitting in L&D for 8 HOURS WITHOUT EATING and even though I was admitted to the hospital at 12 NOON (having not eaten breakfast or lunch) I did not deliver DS until 5:15 AM the next day (AND THIS WAS DEEMED AN EMERGENCY BY MADONNA).
When I was BLEEDING OUT at 16 weeks, he WOULD NOT COME TO THE HOSPITAL. He WOULD NOT HELP me with L&D.
My advice to you is this....you live out east...the average amount of times I went to the doctor between Perinatal and OB was THREE TIMES A WEEK. Please keep that in mind when choosing a doctor.
Ok, I will restate my position, in case you missed the "subtle" answer to your question....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PILLITTERI

The first time? When I was bleeding? I never spoke with him. I spoke with his service (90 times) from the ER (I waited for nearly 4 hours). All I got was an assurance that he had been notified. Finally his service told me that the "squeaky wheel gets the oil" and I created a scene and miraculously I was brought through...I never saw him in the hospital (and we were there for 9 hours) and I never saw him the next day in his office. They made my appt. with his sister
When I was sent to the hospital to deliver and when he finally did get there...he fluffed me off and said "well I'm here now "

No silly, the reason that I brought it up is that I had a long conversation w/ Dr. Kofinas, and he informed me that he works w/ Dr. Pillitteri the most... he then went on to inform me that he has no rights at Stony Brook, and while on the topic also mentioned that more than once his patients have lost their babies because if they become admitted, he doesn't have rights, & one of the hospital drs will come in and change his protocol, which has disastrous outcomes. He didn't specifically say it happened at Stony Brook, though he mentioned that it was more than one hospital...
I really like him, and will be seeing him this week... DH and I talked it over and I definitely want to work w/ Dr. Kofinas. That being said, I'm clueless as to what to do about an OB (assuming we make it far enough that we actually need one this time... ) He told me he understands that I have to do what's best for me and took into account where we live, and said he'd be willing to work with anyone who is willing to work with him, ... which means agreeing to let them treat me the way he wants to w/ medication, etc... The dr. that I originally thought we'd go to is clueless about NK cells, and is a perionatologist himself, so that means I can't see both him and Dr. Kofinas... and I'm sure that I want to see Dr. Kofinas, regardless of how far away he is... so now starts the fun search I guess. I have some time... I was told I should have an OB by 8 weeks, although as far as I know, last time Dr. B said he was keeping me until 10 weeks, so either way I guess I should start the search for an OB who will willingly work w/ Dr. Kofinas and who delivers at Stony Brook. That being said, I wonder if I can deny certain types of treatment if I do end up getting admitted at all... not that I'm anticipating that happening, but given my history, it wouldn't surprise me...

Re: Who sees Dr. Pillitteri?
Honestly, I've had great experiences with Dr. P. He's done a good 3 D&Cs ( two were emergencies and 1 he corrected a past REs mistake) and a lap. Dr. P also took care of me when I was in the hospital which turned out to be a hemmorraghic cyst. I was in the middle of a cycle with Dr. B and he had me out as soon as he could. I spent little time in the ER and was able to get a room when it was full! I also have a different perspective bc he played a huge part in the pregnancy and delivery of my girlfriends mono mono identicals. She was on hospital bedrest for months and on numerous occasions Dr. P would come in, sit and hang out with us. Even on his days off, he would check in on her to make sure she was as comfortable as she could be! For me that care and concern speaks volumes. I also trust Dr. Kofinas' judgement that he wouldn't steer you in the wrong direction. With that being said people have different relationships and experiences with Dr.s because simply people are different, with different personalities. It only makes sense to give a Dr. a try and you make the decision. After all, not everyone is apart of the Dr. b fan club either! Thinking of you Shannon!
