who to call when you find a lump?
Found a lump in my breast a few days ago. I put it out of my mind for a few days, but I do know that I should get it checked out. Can anyone suggest what to do? I don't have a GP - I usually go to Stat health. Maybe the midwives (gyno)?
TIA

Yes gyno could definitely start you off in the right direction and give you a prescription for a mammo and ultrasound. And then depending on those findings, they may refer you to a Breast surgeon.

I also went straight to my gynecologist. They rushed me in and then the radiology center saw me later that day for a mammo and sono.
Good luck!

same here. they handle it really well and know it's a priority. they even helped me get a very last minute appointment for mammo/sono because i had to leave for my honeymoon and was so nervous.

Get it looked at immediately. Do not wait.
I went for a mammo two days after finding a lump, where I was also given a sonogram and a biopsy. As cancer was suspected, my OBGYN gave me a prescription to get an MRI a few days afterwards. When I had the results and the pathology report from the biopsy, I went to a breast surgeon.
If the lump turns out to be cancerous, which it might not, your OBGYN and/or primary doctor can help advise you about where to go for treatment. Go to the best cancer center you know - and before you do, be certain to speak to your health insurance company to be sure you know where you are covered 100%. Cancer treatment is very expensive.
Good luck!

Same here, I went to my ob/gyn, had a sono done 2 days later (it was just a cyst, and now I know what these cysts feel like, and my boobs are totally cystic). I was 20 and it was great to know that the lump I felt was totally normal.

Re: who to call when you find a lump?
I also found a lump last year. I told them at the mammo place and they called my Dr to get an order for a diagnostic mammo and U/S. My lump feels rubbery smooth and like a grape or firm water balloon. On U/S it shows up as a black area(fluid filled) It was a cyst. I am about to go for my mammo again and will be getting a 3D scan this time because they updated their machine
