whoa what a day. (long)
So, this AM I thought I had a small fluid leak... I had a doc appointment at 9.15 anyway- so I mentioned it to her- that I coughed and some fluid came out- not a lot, and that it didn't have an odor so I thought it could be amniotic fluid.
Well- of course my strep b results came back positive- so she sent me to the hospital right then and there to check my fluids and to see if I had indeed broken my water.
stupid me thinks that oh, I'll just get checked out at the hospital quick.
Ha- NOTHING at the hospital is quick.
I was there for about 6 hours!
Turns out my water didn't break- but they didn't like my blood pressure and then at one point the baby's heart rate dipped.
I had four internal exams while I was there- the ladies that are dying for one- I say don't rush it! It was really painful- especially b/c my cervix is "high" so they had a hard time even getting up there (i know, tmi).
they took blood and urine, and it doesn't LOOk like I have pre-eclampsia- but at the same time, the only way to tell is to do the 24 hour urine sample- so now I've been peeing in a huge jug until tomorrow night. joy.
AND i'm contracting already- i'm feeling it in my back- i'm OK when I'm on my side but when I lay on my back I can feel them- i'm only finger tip dialated but definetly in early labor.
Oh- and the hospital- not so comfortable so I highly suggest NOT going to the hopsital until you are having hard contractions 5 minutes apart like they suggest. I couldn't imagine having to sit in that bed wired up to all the machinery while dialating.. it's such a chore to even get up & move around... I am totally going to try & labor at home as much as I can when it's my time b/c also at the hospital you cannot eat or drink anything and lets face it, after a while the ice chips just don't cut it.
so- if my 24 hour urine sample comes back positive- i'll probably be having this baby early next week- hopefully it won't and I can just progress naturally- i'll be more than happy to let this turkey cook as long as she wants.

Oh, my!! I can sympathize with the internal exam thing. My cervix is high too, which makes the exam so much more enjoyable! 
I hope your sample is ok and your little one can stay awhile longer.

Wow 6 hours you poor thing! I hope you're feeling well - sounds like they are monitoring you closely which is good!!!
