Whole house water filtration system
My DH and I are putting on a water filtration system on our house. As a buyer would this worry you or would you think it was a good selling point.
We are thinking of doing this because we believe that the quality of Long Island water is not the best, so we think it is a wise investment to do this for our health.

I don't think it would make or break a sale. If anything, it can be phrased as "updated water system". If you put in filtration, it may worry some, ie that their was a previous problem, you know.

That is what I was worried about. Thank you for the info.

Re: Whole house water filtration system
I would not mind it at all...My parents just bought a brand new house OOT & had to put one in...I would also list it as "updated" water system..

Re: Whole house water filtration system
We didn't do a whole house filtration, but put in a water softener for the whole house, and then a reverse osmosis filter for the kitchen sink (which also does the water/ice for the fridge). I think it adds value to the house.
Keep in mind that I'm in NC and we don't have county water -- we have our own well.

I would love that. It would be a plus for us!!!!
My parents have had one for a long time now and what a difference. I would love to get one. In the next house I would love that and a air filtration system.

I put one in and I honestly can't see how it would in any way detract from the value of your home.

Re: Whole house water filtration system
As a buyer, I think it is a great idea. I am concerned about contamination of the water on LI, no matter what neighborhood it is in and would consider installing one myself.

Re: Whole house water filtration system
I would consider it a nice little extra, we have one now and this way DH would not have to install another one!
(we are not on LI)

Re: Whole house water filtration system
For me, I would think it was a waste and would be concerned about costs to maintain the system.

Re: Whole house water filtration system
we're in FL and on well water.
Our house comes with a water softener for the whole house, and then a reverse osmosis filter for the kitchen sink (which also does the water/ice for the fridge).
It's a great bonus with the house. Our RO system was included with our house where many builders dont include it or it's a costly upgrade. Those on well water with no RO have to use bottled water and/or go to Publix to refill the water jugs. And also have to have filters on their showers.

The system I am purchasing has no real maintenance costs; there are no filters to change.

Re: Whole house water filtration system
If it were relatively new when the house was being sold I'd say it would be a big plus. If it were more than 5-10 yrs old I don't think it would be as much of a plus.
we have well water & we have two filters. we are planning on adding a RO & softening system.
