Why?
The desire is quite distinct (if not intense) for so many of you to have a baby and the emotion is apparent in so many posts.
Simple question: Why do you want to have a baby?
(I'm being serious. I certainly don't mean to offend nor insult at all. Often there are threads started by people talking about why they don't want to have children. So I'm just looking for some specific reasons behind why those who do want babies, do want them.)

Re: Why?
I want a family. I want the joy of watching my children grow and become their own people. I want to experience the frustration of having a rebellious teenager. My DH and I want to pass the friendship and love we have for each other onto our children.

Re: Why?
Can I start by asking you why you want children? And, assuming that baby in your avatar is your child...can you imagine your life without that child? Could you imagine yourself childless?
This is why I want a baby, same reasons as you. Why does anyone want a baby? We all want a baby for the same reasons.
ETA: I am being serious too.

Re: Why?
I think I ahve ALWAYS wanted children...
I love kids, love their innocence, their ability to learn, to love, to grow, to learn new and exciting things, to be happy for the simplest things in life...
We love that we can share our life, and all we have achieved with children, help them learn from mistakes, and be there for laughter and tears...

Re: Why?
why? Well because Its my job. I want a family. I want to raise children to be these strong, independant beautiful people who will better the world...who will love me unconditionally, who I can love unconditionally, to experience that perfect thing of creating and caring for a life.
Simple as that...lol

Re: Why?
Why? Because I love children. I work with them 8-9 hours a day! They are beautiful and innocent. They are a great part of you and DH. I want a family! I was brought up in a large family and love it.

Re: Why?
Ditto
Kids are so great - watching them discover and appreciate everyday things is a special thing. They experience life for what it is without the inhibitions that we've developed.
Plus imagine the love your parent(s) had for you no matter how miserable you were, esp. as a teen. Why wouldn't you want to experience it?
And when you're old - having a child when you're slowing down to help you out is a part of that loving relationship. My mom always reminds me of how happy she is to have children now that she needs some help.

Re: Why?
Because I want there to be some extension of DH and myself to carry on our love for each other. Because I would cherish the experience of watching a child grow and develop and become a person. Because having a baby of our own to love would have to be one of the greatest experiences of life.

Re: Why?
I love all of your answers. (So glad everyone went in that direction )
Note: The baby in my avatar does not actually belong to me--he is my Godson!
But you're right, I couldn't imagine life without him or any of the other little kiddies I know and love. (Whenever there's a new addition, it feels like they've always been there!)

Re: Why?
Why do we want children? I look at my nieces and nephews and I'm always amazed by them. They are their own people from the moment they come in to this world. I want to have the aching love that you have for your children that can't be matched by any other bond with another. I want Cheerios ground in to my carpet and sticky hand prints on my leather car upholstery. I want to treasure that first tooth as if it was the Hope diamond. I want to see the shadows of my husband in our child's smile on Christmas morning. I want to look at my child and see the whole world and all it opportunities out there for them. I want to see them in their glory as they score their first soccer goal. I want to see their pleasure of giving as they give my husband the 1st father's day gift they made. I could go on and on about why we want to have children. The reasons are countless.

Oh, but why not????? I doubt that the cheerios will even get a chance with Oliver, the little one to the left, who hawks in hopes of just crumbs.

Re: Why?
I don't really think there are enough words for me to fully describe why I want to have children.... the reasons are endless..
I always felt that out of all the things I could accomplish in my life, for me being a good Mom is going to be one thing I really feel fulfilled in and will thrive at. I say this because being a Mom it is the one thing I've wanted for as long as I can remember
And I'm fairly certain that for me, my life could never truly feel "complete" without experiencing all the emotions that accompany parenting. I can think of nothing else I want to share more with my husband than being parents to as many children as God blesses us with

Re: Why?
Because I want a baby shower?
Because I don't want to sleep at night?
Because I want someone to be constantly demanding of me, sucking me literally dry?
Because I want to deal with poopies and spit-up and other bodily fluids at 2am?
Oh wait no, these are all the WRONG reasons.....but even with them, I STILL want a baby....I think taht says a lot......see all of the other explanations above.

Re: Why?
I think there is an inexplainable biological pull. I would rather just look at a little baby then at anything else. I think I physically crave a baby!! The reasons expressed so beautifully above apply too...
