Why are people so rude?
Almost everytime someone asks if we are TTC and I say that we are starting this month and right away they say... "well you know it might not happen right away" or "don't expect to get pregnant the first month".... I know that I might not get pregnant right away but I think that it is everyones hope.. It's like they are hoping we have trouble TTC... I think everyone knows it will probably take a few months when they start trying. It just wish people would say "Oh that is great!" Why do they have to rain on my parade and remind me that it could be really hard. I just want to relish in the fact that we are TTC right now. I will deal with any issues later.

I think in a warped sort of way they are trying to be nice -- they want to make sure you know that it is totally normal for TTC to take a few months so that you don't think anything is wrong if you don't get pregnant right away. In high school health class you get the impression that you can get pregnant so easily, that so many people approach TTC with unrealistic expectations.

The rude remarks don't stop. Now that people know you are TTC, you will get the "so, what's taking so long" comments. Once you are PG, people will ask whether you're having a boy or girl and will weigh in if you and DH decide to find out, or if you decide to wait and be surprised. People will also comment on your size (big, small, whatever), and they will tell you what you are having etc.

That's why we didn't tell a soul when the doctor gave us the green light to TTC. All people knew was that I had been going through chemo, so thankfully they stopped asking when we were going to have a baby. Our little guy has been deemed our Christmas miracle.

My soon-to-be SIL is totally planning on a Honeymoon baby in January....I have nicely informed her that it may not happen that easily...I don't think I'm being rude...I really think she thinks that she can become pregnant at the snap of her fingers and I just want her to know that it is normal for it to take awhile.

I guess they don't wish bad for me but so many people (people my mom's age) look at me with a frown and a condescending look like I am a moran for being excited about TTC.... I guess it is one thing if it is someone you are close to but when it is an acquantaince (sorry spelling) at work that you aren't close to.. that is annoying.

I didn't tell many people we were ttc but after my m/c I heard from people that it might now take a while to conceive again since it didn't the first time!! Can you believe that!! Like that's what I want to hear!!

Thats why I asked the question the other day. So many people are winging it and wondering why it doesnt happen. They forget that men are fertile ALL the time, but women are not.

Here's what I would say.....yes I know we may not get pg on the first month but you asked when we were starting to ttc and this is the first month so if you want to know when we HOPE to concive ask that.....sorry I get a little crass when people are stupid and ask 1 thing, but mean another

ITA. I only told my mom and sister but they right now are so wrapped up in my sisters pregnancy that they never remember to ask about how the TTC is going. To be honest I am kind of glad that they are like, saves me from uncomfortable convos.

ITA! I mentioned that DH and I were TTC to a coworker and now every day she asks me if I have any news. I got kind of mad the other day and told her that she would be the first to know when I am PG.
