Why are there so many different kinds of baby blankets? Which ones are you getting?

I thought I was all set for the baby but feel I may not have the right blankets. I have a couple of swaddle blankets and then a ton of sleepsacks and onesies that have feet on them, which I believe are used to put the baby to sleep in.

I was under the impression that the baby could sleep in just these sleepsacks/swaddle blankets.

Do I need more blankets?

My baby will be born sometime this month and we keep our house at about 70 degrees so it shouldn't be cold at home.

I originally had this beautiful sheet set picked out but ended up not registering for it after reading that both the quilt and bumper could potentially be dangerous for the baby.

My favorite baby blanket is a swaddling blanket called the Miracle Blanket. It helped me get DS in a great swaddle and he slept really well in it. I'll be using it from day one with this one.

You don't need anything more than what you have, though. Some light cotton receiving blankets are always nice, but I had a November baby, so I was wrapping him in blankets all the time, I probably won't need to use them so much with this March baby.

For a newborn up to 6mo or a year I would say 2-3 swaddling blankets ,2-3 sleep sacks , one breathable blanket (maybe 2)BRU sells them .
I don't think you need more. I bought bunch when I was pregnant and most of them I just recently gave away to friends . You do the laundry sooo much when you have a newborn I think 2-3 of each is more than enough.

When we came home from the hospital DS was swaddled in the hospital blankets. They once he outgrew those we used the Miracle Blanket - which is the greatest invention ever.

Do not use any blankets in the crib/bassinet draped over the baby at all - the only blankets they have they should be swaddled in Chat Icon
