Why cant people just follow directions??

My shower is this weekend (on Sunday!!!) and several people told me they already went and bought gifts from the registry. I found this odd because practically nothing has come off the registry lately. I chalked it up to the fact that BRU is horrible and probably didnt remove the items.

On my registry I put a note asking people to make sure to ask for a gift receipt (because of BRU's return poilicy) AND to make sure to tell the cashier to remove the items from the registry upon purchase.

Well...I find out today that 3 different people went and didnt tell them they were buying from the registry AND didnt get gift receipts. ...and this is just my close friends who told me ahead of time. I'm sure there will be plenty of others who did the same thing

I dont want to sound ungrateful -- I'll be so thankful for anything we get. I just dont understand why people cant follow simple directions?? Its going to make exchanges/returns SO much more difficult for DH and I. Not to mention, now we're probably going to get a bunch of duplicates. I was trying to avoid this by making that note on the registry, but I guess it didnt help
