why couldn't my boss tell me this on friday?
I'm hosting passover tonight and have a million things to do still. But, I've only been with my company for 2 weeks so I wasn't going to ask for a day off or anything. Instead, I asked if I could leave at 3pm last week. No problem, says my boss. Today she comes in and asks me how my dinner is coming along and I said good, but I've got more left to do then I thought and would it be ok if I left at 2:30 instead (better, faster train home.) She goes, "sure, I'm surprised you came in at all today."
Just tell me...if she's so surprised, knowing how much work is involved, why couldn't she have OFFERED me the day off?" Oy!

Oh, how frustrating!! Making the seder is so much work. Good luck with everything!

That's frustrating but as a supervisor, I would never tell someone take the day off without them asking first.
Maybe you can leave even earlier!

UGH! That's nice of her, but would have been SOOO much nicer on FRIDAY! Grrr!
That is definitely a lot of work, but I'm sure you will pull it off without a hitch! Good luck and Happy Passover!

I completely agree. I would never offer someone the day off.
But you made a good impression to her. She can see how diligent you are about your work and what a good work ethic you have.

I was thinking the same thing. She knows you're hosting & came in. That's major points in my book.
