Why do diners and places like Ihop serve crappy syrup?
I'm such a syrup snob! I only like REAL maple syrup. There is nothing like it. Despite the price, it is delicious and I pour it in a little ramekin rather than drench it all over my waffles or pancakes or french toast.
But all the diners give you is the crappy fructose stuff that actually tastes NOTHING like syrup.
Are there any breakfast places that actually serve real syrup? I remember one diner years ago saying they charge $1 extra for real syrup. I'd totally pay it!

b/c it's CHEAP. much much cheaper.
you can come to my house for breakfast. we use the good stuff.

I don't get it though. pankcakes and waffles have to be one of the cheapest foods on the planet to make.
if you are going to change $6.95 for something that costs $1 to make, serve it will some $2 syrup!!!!

I agree...probably higher end brunch places and cafes will serve the real stuff or at least have it, but diners and IHOP won't. And people have such ****** palettes now they can't appreciate the good stuff.

My SILs FIL travels with his own Grade A stuff from the Berkshires - we always tease him about it. Some places do have it if you ask more $$.

The syrup at IHOP stinks but I love the syrup at Cracker Barrel in the little bottles - particularly the blueberry one.
