Why do dogs rub their butts on the carpet?

I swear my dog must have just watched the commercial b/c now she started doing it - is there a reason why she does it and is there something I can do?

Could be a dirty butt or the dog could have worms. Is the dog on a montly worm control pill?

Or there anal glands need to be "expressed".

I know when Lola does it she either just comes in from pooping and has poop on it (but she runs to the bathroom so I can wipe her with the cooly wipes) or she needs her anal glands expressed.. I learned how to do it from the vet so its very rare she does that anymore..
