WHY do i feel so selfish? updated!

i am making plans to go out with friends in the city tomorrow night. it's about $20 for the train and $40 for a wristband at the bar - not bad, right?

well the party is from 10-1, so i wont be getting home until 2 or 3am. DH has to work on Sunday so i have to get up with the baby, no big deal. he's an easy kid.

so WHY do i feel so guilty and selfish for wanting to go? DH has done this before, and fairly recently, for a bachelor party. i haven't been out with these friends since before i was PG with DS - um that was about a year and a half ago.

am i insane for thinking about staying home?

UPDATE: for anyone who cares - i ended up going and while it was a lot of fun it will be a LONG time before i do that again apparently i am quite a lightweight these days

i didn't get home until 3 am but god bless DS - he slept until after 9!!

LB - totally normal to feel this way.

I PROMISE YOU, when you are out you will be sooo happy you did it! You need at least a few hours away w/ the girls to keep it together.
You'll be so happy to see them and they'll e so happy to see you.
DON'T stay home!

You are not insane.. Mommy's tend to be wired differently.

BUT GO!!!!!!! You will have fun and you do not need to justify yourself to anyone - especially not to that critic in your head.

You NEED to go. Our husbands do things all the time without thinking twice. You deserve this time with your friends. Go out and enjoy!

It normal to feel that way... BEFORE you go out. Once you are out... you will have a blast and won't think twice about your decision! You deserve to go out with friends and have fun! You have made arrangements for your baby, he will be happy and taken care of at home - SO GO GO GO AND ENJOY YOURSELF!!!!!!

Guilt is part of being a mom i am convinced!

GO GO GO and HAVE FUN! Baby is in good hands! Moms are entitled to be a WOMAN and take care of themselves. Moms need fun too!!

I say go, go, go! From my own experience, I have realized I don't "make" DH watch Ryan enough!

You feel guilty now, and possibly even on the train. But when you get there, have a drink, listen to the girlies, and very quickly you will be happy you went!!

believe me i know it is SO dumb for me to feel this way - i never even think twice about DH going out drinking without me and he does it all the time! well not all the time but once every couple of weeks at least.

i am going to go, i know i will have a blast once i am there. thanks for the support girls

oh and diana did you mean you wanted me to have a or a whole BOTTLE for you?

I felt guilty the first few times I went out but not anymore. I need it every once in awhile.

Actually, right now my son is with my parents visiting my brother b/c DH & I have a concert to go to with my in laws. We have the ENTIRE WEEKEND alone, and while I'm psyched to just hang out with my husband... I miss my son terribly when he's not around.

DH goes out all the time without guilt I don't mind. He wouldn't go if I wanted him home..

YES, it's insane to stay home. Im flying up to NY for 6days next month for a BP. I plan on staying out all night and leaving DS with my mom. I feel bad, but I SO NEED THIS!!! have fun, enjoy yourself.

Please go. You deserve a night away from DC. It's easy for us moms to get in such a rut, have a hard time leaving DC when we really could use the break. Whenever I go out, even just to the store,, I always come back appreciating DD and DH even more.

Absolutely go!!!! I feel the same way before I go out with the girls and to be perfectly honest, I do get a twinge of guilt and anxiety right before I'm heading home too, but that's what 10-15 minutes of guilt for a night of fun!!! Totally worth it!!!

And you know what, the next day, you will look at DS will renewed and refreshed!!!
