Why do I look on those medical websites!!!!!!!

So I have been itching for weeks and I thought it was my soap but I am still itching all over. It is so bad I can't sleep anymore.

So I looked it up and one of the major causes is kidney disease. Another symptom is headaches which I have been getting for awhile severe.

So I am now in a panic and so upset. I always do that to myselfChat Icon

I try to stay away from them at all cost. Go see your doctor to put your mind at ease.

Do you have any kind of rash?

I agree. They should come with a BIG FAT disclaimer:

Nope. No rash. Just excessive itching to the point of making myself bleedChat Icon

I get eczema every summer on my arm and itch like crazy so I feel your pain. Might just be dry skin.

Try using Aveno body wash and lotion, it has oatmeal in it and helps the itchies.

Feel better and call your doc or you're going to make yourself a nervous wreck over nothing. I know, I've done it!

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I swear 30% of the people who call 911 claim to be dying because web-md says so. I have people screaming forr me to call neuro surgeons and cardiologists all the time. And it's just a migraine, and an anxiety attack! I would think about any new things you have ate, used, bought, borrowed, touched and then start narrowing it down. Try Benadryl. If this helps it's more than likely an allergy thing. Also do you have central air? I get so itchy in the summer because the air drys your skin out like crazy. RELAX I can honestly say that in my years on the road as a paramedic being itchy never made an ER doc scream for an oncologistChat Icon Try the Benadryl, use some really nice thick lotion, and call your doctor.

Oh God I hear ya.
I have sworn I have had brain tumors, cancers, heart problems, etc after reading those sites.
I have learned my lesson!!
I'm way too paranoid to begin with- those sites are the last thing I need!

Re: Why do I look on those medical websites!!!!!!!

my legs get so itchy if I don't moisturize them every day. The best thing for me is to put lotion on right after I get out of the shower.

If you had a kidney problem, you would have a lot more issues than just itchyness.

Re: Why do I look on those medical websites!!!!!!!

Please I am the same way...

One time I went to the dermatologist because I had these tiny red spots on my arms. They are so small that you need a microscope to see them but being the panicky person I am, I had to take myself to a doctor. While I was in the waiting room I picked up this brochure about skin cancer and it mentioned red spots being a sign of a particular type of skin cancer. So I convinced myself that I had skin cancer and almost started to cry. When I went in to see the doctor, he asked what the reason was for the visit and I told him that I had skin cancer. He gave me the most confused look ever! After examining me he laughed and said that I definitely did not have cancer...It was just a summer heat rash thing...

Relax. Call your doctor. I HIGHLY Doubt you have kidney disease.

Now that you've read it, you'll be itchier because you're worried and you're psyching yourself out. I'm sure there is a much less scary explanation for what's happening.

Good luck and try not to worry!

My grandmother has been complaining about itching for literally months. She's been to about 5 different dermatologists, tried creams, shampoos, antibiotics, you name it.. she still has it. The dr said it could just be an allergy.

Stay calm and stay away from those websites.. they are NOT safe!

Re: Why do I look on those medical websites!!!!!!!

im the same way, I had a headache around my eye last week and I was for SURE that I had a brain tumor- so much so I told my dh and gave him the whatever happens to me, I want you to know... speech. Dh thinks Im crazy i tell ya and its all due to these websites. While the internet is wonderful in many ways it can also make you crazed. Anyhow my headaches went away after 2 days and i cancelled my drs appointment. Cant tell you the number of times I self diagnosed myself.

Even in my drs office there is a little sign posted that they are not going to entertain people who selfdiagnose from the internet Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Why do I look on those medical websites!!!!!!!

Glad to see I'm not the only one.

Ron should start a new "hypochondriac's" forum so we can all diagnose eachother!
