Re: Why do some kids.....
I don't know. My son's teeth came in overnight and he barely shed a tear over it. Its so odd isn't it?
My mother said I was a good teether....so maybe its in the genes.

Re: Why do some kids.....
some have higher pain tolerance. Just like adults. My brother barely flinched when he broke his elbow, I burst into tears and hobble around when I stub my toe.
Hope that tooth pops through soon.

Re: Why do some kids.....
Luck of the draw, I guess. It's got to be the worst feeling, it really does. I don't thinK I could handle that pain as an adult-- and if it happened to adults, at least we could reason it our in our heads that it's necessary & will be over soon. But you can't make babies realize that, which makes it even more sad to me

Re: Why do some kids.....
My son is teething really bad to the point that he cant sleep @ nite..i actually took him to the dr two days ago bc i thought maybe he was sick..he was fine..Dr said he is just teething...and he thinks they are hitting nerves..so when it is hitting a nerve it can cause massive pain for the poor babies :(

Re: Why do some kids.....
I seriously have no idea...
I had a doctor tell me that it's more our reaction and assumption that teething hurts that causes babies to act like that. (basically he said that teething doesnt really hurt) So if you are the type to feed into the whole teething thing your child will be a bad teether. If you arent then your child wont have a problem with teething.
I dont know if I agree that teething doesnt hurt. My older girls never had a problem and were never bothered by teething. I am pretty laid back about such things so for years I thought maybe there was some truth to what the doctor said. However, DS definitely appears to be effected by his teething. Im parenting him the same as my girls so it's not that Im doing anything different..KWIM?
As of today he has 5 teeth that are ready to make their debut any day now. He is whiny, clingy, and wants you to rub his gums....So whether he is in pain or rather discomfort doesnt really matter in the long run.

Lucky I guess.....Julia never had a teething problem, but she didn't get her first tooth till she was a year! I hope Todd Jr is the same way.

Re: Why do some kids.....
DD is getting 4 teeth right now her 2 front and the 2 next to the front I only knew about 1 tooth until tuesday when the dr. looked in her mouth and told me she was getting 3 more She was a little fussy and cranky but she also had an ear infection. There are days that are worse then others but on the bad days she gets cold washcloths and teething tablets and she seems fine. I do think its super strange that certain baby's get all their teeth without a peep while other baby are completely miserable.
