Why even bother going to the doctor
This is a rhetorical question, but why even bother going to the OB?
*Every single pain and cramp, is "normal".
*My feet being the size of my thighs is "normal".
*I am not dilated and have to go back in two weeks "if he doesn't see me before then."
*He can't promise me anything but I can "go any day now or it could still be weeks"
Sometimes I don't even bother telling him things because I know he'll say it's "normal"
The only good thing I get out of it is seeing my lil' monkey on the screen

Re: Why even bother going to the doctor
I told my doctor- I have trouble going to the bathroom, I get really bad gas pains and I am having trouble sleeping.
He said, "we can do something to help you."
I get excited!
He says- have the baby!
He thinks its funny. I am

Re: Why even bother going to the doctor
I know! you feel you should say something, just so they know. I figure its at least off my chest, even if it is normal. ugh.
And yes, I also love the hour wait. I now call ahead evenings to see if they are backed up and if they are, go have some dinner or something.

YES...I could be eating! (I go at lunch time)
In all seriousness...now it's the walk that I dont look forward to. It is 7 blocks from my job and used to take me at the MOST 7 minutes to walk there. Now, I need 20 freakin' minutes I practically use up my lunch hour just walking there and back.

Re: Why even bother going to the doctor
I totally know how you feel...Now when I see the doctor, I say..."I'm sure this is normal, but...." He usually laughs at me. I get so frustrated. This is my first pregnancy, so I get concerned...like you do. Why should they shrug it off?
Why are you walking to the doctor at this point in your pregnancy? Do you need someone to take you? Do we live near one another? I am in East Northport...where are you?

You are so sweet
I go to the Dr. in the city by my job. I was walking for the exercise. Now I'm walking in hopes of getting this little chubba down "there" and ready to come out
I had to laugh...I do the same thing. "I know this is normal, but I get this really BAD pain right here." He just laughs at me.

Re: Why even bother going to the doctor
Thank you!!!!! I totally agree!
My doc never even measured me which I thought was weird. Not until I said something does he now do it with his fingers. He "measures" finger length across my belly. What the heck is that?
I would say they are making $$ on our co-pays, but I don't pay them anymore.

Re: Why even bother going to the doctor
I hear ya
Luckily I generally don't have a wait - but it is a 20 minute drive each way. I get my urine tested, BP, belly measured and literally one sec of hearing her HB (all takes 5 minutes) and he's like "see you in 2 weeks." I'm always like um wait - I almost fainted twice last week, I have horrible cramps and I need to talk about labor. He goes all normal, take a class, here's the number. See ya in 2.

Re: Why even bother going to the doctor
I haven't had a sonogram since my level 2. The only good thing about my appts. is hearing the heartbeat. I know these doctors are not God, but I really wish mine could give me some idea of his guess as to when this little one might make his/her entrance.

Re: Why even bother going to the doctor
I think we should all be greatful for our "uneventful" apointments.
Uneventful apointments= healthy, normal baby, let's just keep that in mind!
As fas as all the unpleasant side-effects.. well, the only cure for them is to have the baby. All women go through those things, there is nothing one can do, really, but just wait for the due date!

Re: Why even bother going to the doctor
lol, its true, I'm beginning to realize this, but normal usually means everything is going as it should...
so the uneventful appts with the "normal" issues are always good ones!!
