Why is it that I could never get my act together

Why is it that I could never get my act together
before kids? How is it possible that I missed trains?
My mom had my kids overnight because I had to be in early this am for a difficult meeting.
There was no one to force to change their clothes because they cannot wear sleeveless in the fall. There was no one to say to "I've already told you twice times... on three, that psycho mom you have comes out to play... ". I didn't have to clean up crumbs or spilled juice. I didn't have to even break up one fight.
I got up, showered up, did my hair, got dressed & drove to a train station.
What the heck did I do with myself that I couldn't get to my train station on time? Seriously? Was I that unorganized?
And yet....my morning was no where near as fun. Yeah for the end of the day!

It's so funny how before having kids I always thought things were hectic and busy and that I was always on the run. That was nothing compared to our everyday routine. Not to say anything bad about people who don't have kids because everyone always has stuff going on and is busy. But now that I have kids I truly appreciate how much time I really have when they are not around and I can just focus on myself.

Well, I stayed out way too late before kids or I stayed up having marathon phone calls that I never do anymore.

hmmmm...true. I definitely stayed up later. I was a night owl & here I am wide awake by 5:30-6am while my kids are
