Why is this house selling for this low price?
What's the catch? I know the taxes are high...but ?????
anyone have input?

I would go to the open house and check it out. It looks like a lot of house for the money but many need a lot of work. It could also be a short sale or about to go into foreclosure.

I don't think it's priced unusually low for Holbrook. There are many houses in the Sachem district for that price and lower taxes. Check it out though!

it's not a mess - the grass is cut and the trees are nice
I have seen some houses on MLSLI that are scary on the outside and the inside
unless that is an old pic- that house looks pretty nice to me

Hello Sandy!  You finally made it over to the LIF board. How are you? Hope all is well with you and DH.
Some people just don't like to have photo's of the inside of their house on the internet. I would def. check it out, especially since they are having an open house. Very nice looking house from the outside. Or maybe they never updated the house on the inside. Go for it. You don't have anything to lose but the time it took you to go an see it. Open houses, really give you an idea what is out there and then you really know what to look for. GL!

lived on MLSLI for over a year house hunting - some real estate agency never put inside pics online for many reasons other than the appearance. One of our realtors just didn't know how - let us know how the open house goes!
**we bought our house for about $200,000 less than it was assessed and about 50% less than what this town ususally goes for - they needed a quick sale

IDK, that can't be recent picture, every thing is green and in bloom.
I'd go to the OH and check it out. Something sounds fishy with the listing to me.

According to my real estate agent that house is a disaster inside. Something with the listing agents not being so honest. This is also about the 8th open house they are having, SO you can probably make your own judgements about the condition of the house.

looks like it is near the airport. look at the map it option and move the mouse over to the left.

That is exactly what he is doing.
We tried to look at this house.
Our RE called and they would only show it during their open house and you have to get approved by there mortgage company. It sounded a little fishy so we passed.
I went to the house and looked through the windows (it's vacant). This is an old pic - it needs some work from what I could tell.

UPDATE: my realtor just said that the house needs a TON of work and is in pre-foreclosure.
