Wigs on LI for cancer patients?
My mom starts chemo next week, and I'm looking into wig options if she chooses to go that route.
Does anyone have any recommendations in Suffolk, and know if it was covered by insurance?

The American Cancer Society has many resources. Here are 2 links:
http://www.tlcdirect.org/
http://www.cancer.org/docroot/ESN/content/ESN_3_1X_Look_Good_Feel_Better.asp
On the second link they talk about 1:1 consulations with a local stylist.
You may want to call a local chapter.

I believe there's a place in East Northport on Larkfield Rd. I don't know about insurance.
Prayers for your mom!

Best wishes for your mom.
Not all chemo drugs cause hair loss. Your mom will get info about the chemo drugs which will list their side effects. I'm trying to remember what my mom and MIL took, I know that Taxol causes thinning but not Carboplatinum.
Call your mom's insurance to see if they cover wigs, and then ask the oncology staff for recommendations.
