Wii vs. Playstation or any other new gaming system out there...

I'm thinking of getting dh a gaming system for his bday, and I need to know my options.

Any suggestions for the best system out there? TIA!

Re: Wii vs. Playstation or any other new gaming system out there...

best if subjective as these two systems are opposite...

here are some facts as i own all 3

Wii;
very hard to find still
priced cheapest at 250
innovative controls
cheapier games 20-50

PS3;
You get a blu-ray player
graphics are better then the Wii
will get 5 free movies in the mail plus any stores offers
60 dollor games
Cost 400-500 bucks

Xbox360
large libary of games
comparable graphics to ps3
microsoft only games like halo
Cost 300-400

All feature wireless controllers. The Wii doesn't play regular DVD movies. PS3 and 360 can act as a media hub where you can connect to a windows based computer and stream pictures, music if connected to local intranet...

Any other questions, feel free to ask

The thing with the wii that is very different from the others is that it is interactive. You actually get up off the couch and swing your remote like you are playing tennis. You sacrifice the graphics with the wii but the graphics are still great for many games. Their basic games do not have great graphics but their mainstream games like Madden, Harry Potter, Zelda have great graphics. Not as good as other gaming systems but still great graphics. It's all about what you think DH will like more and how much you want to spend. The wii is the most affordable system but if DH is into incredible graphics than I would go with either PS3 or XBox-360.

Re: Wii unless you are waitng at Best buy every wed and sun mornng at 4 am to get a ticket to be one of the lucky ones when the store opens up at 10, then you'll never get one. Unless of course you are willing to pay $500 on Ebay for something that is worth half that!

Re: Wii vs. Playstation or any other new gaming system out there...

ok, DH is a gaming snob.... he freely admits it. He plays exclusively computer games, becuase the game variety, graphics and AI are much better. he also says console games are super overpriced.....

Also, he says the wii and playstation technology is already out of date, and both are due for upgrades....

I guess my advice to you is to find some technogaming geeks and ask them what they think (hint, they're usually under 16 Chat Icon )
