Will Grace be the sister Madonna wants for her little African boy?
Her name is Grace, she is three years old...and she could be the next addition to Madonna's family.
Despite her publicist's claims that she is not adopting another child, friends claim that the singer is looking for a sister for her adopted Malawian son David Banda.
And they add that she intends to start an entire 'rainbow family' of up to three more adopted children following the example of filmstar Angelina Jolie.
Madonna spotted Grace among a video collection of 11 candidates for adoption put together by an orphanage in Malawi and couriered to her London home in November.

Glad its so trendy.
BUt Seriously though, I worked in foster care law. There are so many children in the US in need of a good home. Children who were abused, children who were abandoned, children born to drug addicted mothers. Why doesn't anyone think to look here to adopt?

There are needy children all of the world, but children living in third world countries have so little hope of ever having a better life. I think people who visit there are really struck by it.
What I think is sad about this is that in a documentary not too long ago, her children were interviewed and Lourdes was going on about how she never gets to see her mother. I hope she'll slow down a bit to take care of them.

I always assumed it was more difficult (and cost more money) to adopt here in the US than it was to go to China or 3rd world countries. Is that not true?

That's not true at all. I used to do termination of parental righst and adoptions for kids in foster care. I don't know anything about private adoptions though. Only when kids are in NY foster care.
If the child is in foster care, its very easy to become a foster parent (step 1). If the child is an orphan, the adoption process is pretty easy. If the child is not an orphan, then you have to terminate parental rights- which are usually uncontested.
As for the $, we had very modest foster parents adopt foster children. Most of what I did was help foster parents adopt their foster kids.
I think Angelina and Madonna would definitely qualify and could certainly afford it.
