Will I have a job in September?

That is my question for my principal. I am wondering when they will notify me about my job. I am a pt teacher in a school. This is my first year there. When do you think they will let me know if they need me or not? Honestly, they may not need me anymore, but I just really need to know. What do you think?

Thanks ladies!

I'm assuming after the budget votes....if your job is contingent on the budget passing.

Thanks for the response.

Honestly I do not see how my job can be contingent on the budget, because I am special ed. At this point they have a really good idea of who will need special ed services next year. So I think they know if they will need me or not. But I am wondering when they usually tell. In May?

I am a tenured teacher elsewhere, out on childcare leave. And I am thinking it may be time to return to my full-time job. But if I was offered this pt position again I would definately accept it instead. In my position, would you ask? I am not even sure what to say. Or should I just wait it out. They will let me know by year's end, right?

Contract wise wouldn't they have to notify you way before June?

My district let everyone know March 1st if their position was (potentially) being cut.

Obviously, if the budget does not pass, other jobs may be cut if need be.

I thought that if it was an excessing or lay off they could tell you any time. There are only time restraints in contracts for asking back and tenure?

Paterson signed the 55/25 early retirement incentive today (or yesterday), so hopefully that will save some jobs!

It depends on the contract, but in the city you can work up to 20 hrs per week, not a second more while on childcare leaveChat Icon One really good thing about the city. It has worked out amazingly for me.

I am just looking to be asked back. I am not tenure track in this part- time position. When should they tell me if I will be asked back?

Thanks again ladies.
